Guest guest
Dear Ken and all who know about olive leaf extract, I managed to find it here on this end of the earth (Israel), capsules by Solgar of European olive leaf extract, 6%, the only kind I can find and I'm grateful to find that at least! Now I have to know from all of you with experience how to take it, with meals or before/after, how much each day, how much to start with, what side effects to watch for, etc. Thanks in advance for the info. Also found out that we have bromelaine here, will get my husband to pick some up tomorrow. Again the same questions, should I start it at the same time as the olive leaf extract or should I try it one at a time before taking both? How much bromelaine when I start? With or without food? Contraindications for any other illnesses? (I was diagnosed last month with small gallstones and am taking ursolit (ursosomething or other acid) to try and dissolve them, otherwise only vitamins (multi B, C, B12). contraindications for any other medicine? By the way, After testing positive in the hospital two weeks ago for a nonspecific rickettsial (OX19 which is also a marker for proteus or something like that), my HMO here tested me with blood taken after three days of doxy and I was negative for it. Does that make sense? All of you who have been tested for rickettsials, how many tests are there? Here I was tested for 5 (rickettsial connorti, rickettsia typhy, Weil felix 0x15, ox2 and 0x19) but are there any more? Also those of you know know about lyme (Nellie et al), would my symptoms sound like that? Lowgrade fever for 9 months, exhaustion, no rash, light and noise sensitive, elevated sedimentation and ANA, nothing else. Was in England 9 months ago where I might have been exposed, here we dont have lyme. Nothing in my illness has changed except that for a period of a month, starting about four weeks into my illness (which began with two days of medium to high fever which then dropped to lowgrade), I ran a higher lowgrade fever than now, then it was 37.6 at the highest and today it runs 37.3-4 at the highest, also it appears to always be about half a degree above my natural body temp, as can be seen by cycle fluctuations, two weeks 37 and under but I feel hot, two weeks 37.3 and so on, corresponding to my hormones (I am 40) etc. Anyhow, thanks for the feedback about all subjects, lyme, rickettsia, olive leaf extract and bromelaine. Guest guest
Hi Judy, My non-medical (but probably logicial) opinions: Olive Leaf extract can cause stomach upset -- so start taking one 6% capsule with each meal for 3-5 day ( 108 mg of Oleuporin/day) . Records symptoms (if any), then increase (again increasing at 3-5 day intervals).. Laurie and I are (after 3+ months) to 900 mg of Oleuporin taken only with water at bedtime - at 6% and 600 mg capsulse this would be... 25 capsules/day - it definitely causes mild sleepy-herxing effects which works well with our schedule... For more (authorative) information: see the links from http://www.folkarts.com/idef/olive_leaf_extract.htm Bromelain: Warning: if you are sensistive to bee stings -- see the literature BEFORE starting if you are doing antibiotics -- the effective strenght(die-off) of them may double Literature indicates that digestive with meals had better effects than direct IV injection -- so I recommend with meals (so you have twice the benefit - better digestion of food and disssolveing of fibrin). Starting dosage: one tablet with each meal, increase to a maximum of two (check package for dosage) For more (authorative) information: see the links from http://www.folkarts.com/idef/bromelain.htm Brain Fog??? If you have cognative dysfunctions - you may wish to check at your pharmacy if 'Piracetam' is available in Israel as an over the counter (non-prescription) medicine -- if so, then taking this with bromelain usually improves cognative functions signficiantly! Rickettsia: The issue with testing is that it is testing the prescence in the blood system -- after 3 days of antibioitcs, the blood system may be clear -- but rickettsia does not like oxygen (so the blood system is it LEAST preferred location) so the reserves in nerve tissues and fibrin deposits are still alive and healthy! Further more, rickettsia can go dormant for up to 9 months.... See links from http://www.folkarts.com/idef/rickettsiae.htm Especially http://www.mfds.com.au/rick.html The main issue may be to educate the MD on how rickettsia infections are different from the usual infections that tend to be blood-system loving (instead of blood system hating like rickettsia and mycoplasma) Ken Lassesen 2 @ 2 ft PWC, 2 @ 4ft PWC2 ft PWC: http://www.folkarts.com/idef/4 ft PWC: http://corgi.folkarts.com/Fax: (520) 832-6836 ICQ #: 2122097 (also Netmeeting with Video) ----- Original Message ----- From: judy This list is intended for patients to share personal experiences with each other, not to give medical advice. Guest guest
Dear Ken, Thanks so much for the info, shall start with the Olive Leaf Extract, then add bromelain and will check into the rest.
