Guest guest
Wow Sky Diving!!!!!!!! I don't know if I will ever be brave enough to do something like that. I love rides that go upside down and all that stuff, but actually jumping out of a plane? That sounds really scary. You must be a very brave person. from MO. I thought about a mini goal, and thinking my next goal will be under 250. If I am under 250 I can go sky diving again and that is yet another goal I want to reach. Those strict rice & fruit only days are only once a week and it's down to just 2 phases, the first to kick off the weight loss/salt restriction that lasts just a week, then phase 2, the slimming phase, then maintainence. Guest guest
I have only done it twice, the last time was last year on our 20th wedding anniversary. Guest guest
I really do love the rice diet, and yes I have seen the new plan, it is much more suited to what I want to achieve. When I did the rice diet almost 15 years ago it was very strict and very unforgiving if you cheated. I stuck with phase 1 - 3 for almost the whole nine months. I never once felt bad, or like I was missing anything. I exercised daily and was very proud of what I did. But when my oldest son started having problems I fell off the wagon with a thud that could be heard around the world. I was devastated with what he was going thru and it effected me the only way I could handle it, I ate. I am using the Rice Diet now as my base and hope to incorporate it into my " redevelopment " of eating. Guest guest
Yeah, but think in terms of private sessions for (just under) $50/week, I don't think it's that bad, really. I mean, if you're seriously looking at the out-of-pocket cost for WLS vs this, I would *definitely* try this first. And if I had the money, I'd be able to justify that and a whole lot more if it meant losing weight permanently! -Bonnie > >My husband paid for it, for the year, 52 weeks of sessions, it was a > little > >over $2,500! > > Makes 3 years at 24 Hour Fitness for $750 look like a bargain! > LOL ok, I need to break out my cost for Curves then.... let's see.... that > would be 6+ yrs at Curves at roughly $33 a month... got'cha ;-) >

Guest guest
, It's nice to hear from you again! I was wondering what was going on with you. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. That must be hard on all of you. I know I've told you before, but Tim is so blessed to have you in his life advocating for what is best for him. And through it all you are setting a wonderful example to your children. Keep in touch. 9 days and counting. Guest guest
you are a wonderful sister, I like Jackie hope that my children will be there for Trent when the day comes we won't be. Though as they have all been involved with decision making since they where little and what they have had to say has been listen to I am not worrying. Glad to hear that Tim is managing this major change to his life, to me it sounds like both him and your Dad have a wonderful support person in yourself. One thing to remember though, look after yourself first. As if you are tired, stressed or ill it will be harder and harder to do anything for either of your families. I also love reading the trials and tribulations that happen to us all via this group, in a lot of cases especially with school and medical stuff, country/culture differences make it hard for me to understand but still great to see the wonderful support everyone is able to give. Guest guest
hi nola, i am so glad you posted! i would be very, very interested in hearing what dr. betz has to say about bronwen. i don't know if you have read my posts recently, but my son lucas who is 5 yrs old has been in the spinecor brace for 6 months now after being in casts for 2 years. his curves got up much higher than bronwen's (18 months diagnosed as well at 68o/45o). currently, he is 19o/13o. i am quite happy with these #s as well as the brace itself. he has not been out of anything since 18 mos. perhaps if he was, then it would be hard to return to bracing/casting. in the back of my mind, i'm always thinking of vertebral stapling if his #s do go up OR what if we are thinking of bracing until ?? yrs old (and it is older for boys than girls). please let us know how the appointment goes, and what he says. we have friends in philly so we were thinking about having an evaluation by dr. betz at some point in the future just for kicks. also, i know you mentioned that you don't like message boards, but there was a lot of talk on the spinekids board about the stapling procedure from a couple of moms whose children have been through the procedure. the link to a couple of threads are here: http://spinekids.com/boards/showthread.php?t=8078 http://spinekids.com/boards/showthread.php?t=6425 just in case you haven't seen them. my best, deshea ---- Original message ---- >Date: Tue, 16 Jan 2007 12:05:55 -0600 >From: " Nola RC " <nolabeebuzz@...> >Subject: Hello again >infantile scoliosis treatment > > Hi group, > > I have posted in the past but haven't in quite a > long time. Guest guest
Nola, We are always happy to have you post here. and hope you feel welcome. That is amazing that a 7 1/ year old is O.K. with surgery. That really tells alot about how much she really dislikes the brace. Anyways, good luck with the upcoming appt. Guest guest
Hi Nola Good to " see " you again! I remember you well! My daughter Siobhan is 7 too, and was diagnosed with a connective tissue disorder too! Marfan's was confirmed about a year ago. We braced and casted but Siobhan's curve (and rotation) needed more, so she received the VEPTR last May. I will be very interested in what Dr Betz says about Vetebral Stapling - I asked our ortho Dr D'Astous a while back, but he didn't feel Siobhan would be a candidate (curves too high and progressive). I'm sorry that Bronwen's curves are sneaking up again - And am very happy that you have a game plan for her. Please keep us posted....
