Guest guest
I don't post much, some of you may remember I am the one with the husband with achalasia who had the Heller in November 2008 & hasn't seen a dr since. Well, I lie -- he went for a follow up April 2009, the dr " saw something " & ordered an endoscopy, hubby had it done but never called for the results. He assumes the dr would have called him if he found something, but the dr had said to call him if we didn't hear back in 2 weeks. My husband blew it off. I assume all is fine because the dr continues to renew his prescription every year without requiring a check up. He is on Protonix -- the generic version. He is really struggling with reflux. Bad. He couldn't even finish his bowl of cheerios yesterday. He said to me today, that he's going to call to see if he can double his dose of Protonix -- I told him that the dr will probably ask to see him before doing that. He is so miserable, he actually said he is ok with that. My question is --- I get confused reading posts -- is reflux normal after a Heller or is it not normal? Does it depend on whether he had that Fundo thing?? I'm pretty sure he did. I could have sworn that when the dr did the surgery, he said to expect reflux for the rest of his life. But reading posts here, I thought I read that the wrap is supposed to prevent reflux? I try to keep up with everything because my husband won't, & one of has to be knowledgeable on the disease. I am just happy that 3 years after his surgery, he may actually go see the dr!!
Guest guest
PS -- he also coughs. A LOT. Sounds like someone who has smoked his whole life but he never has. He always says it's his allergies. Or his reflux. Depends on the day. Sounds horrible -- like he's coughing up a lung. Bleah. Do any of you have that cough?? > > I don't post much, some of you may remember I am the one with the husband with achalasia who had the Heller in November 2008 & hasn't seen a dr since.
