Guest guest
Hi I'm pretty new to this group. I had a heller myotomy w/ ant fundo back in April this year. Initially things were fantastic, aside from spasms I was eating everything. Lately I am finding myself avoiding foods again. I feel like food is sitting on my chest again. Having some regurgitation, if I bend over especially ...which I was able to do after surgery. Ugh! Is this normal? I realize the muscles don't work so what symptoms are normal? Thanks so much for any help, Haydee
Guest guest
Hi Haydee, I also felt some relief for a couple months after HM w/Dor, then I started feeling worse, eventually when I would bend over the food would just come out, even hours after eating. I had a dilation and that stopped my regurgitation during day. After this I had very bad spasms, which Levsin 0.125 under tongue has helped. I have good days and some bad now, watch what I eat daily. Life is challenging, would love to find a GI doctor that I trust and feel like they listen and understand this condition and my symptoms. Wishful thinking!! Good luck!! Guest guest
Thanks Barb. Ugh. I feel the same way. I feel pretty alone in the doc department. Aside from calling the surgeon I don't have a doc I feel confident in. This disease is too rare I guess for the average doc to be able to devote time to. Guess I'll be making a call to the surgeon .... And the tests begin anew. > > Hi Haydee, > I also felt some relief for a couple months after HM w/Dor, then I started feeling worse, eventually when I would bend over the food would just come out, even hours after eating. Guest guest
Haydee, I think I have read you are from Florida? Dr. Richter is an expert on Achalasia, was at Cleveland Clinic, then to Temple and now in Tampa, I think at University of South Florida. Went to Florida this month I think. If he is close to you I would highly recommend him. I personally have not seen him, but have read alot of good things about him, and he is a GI Specialist!! Let me know if you contact him. Good luck. I am contemplating if I should find a new GI or not. Tough decision, frustrating when they are so aloof, but then again maybe they really don't know what to do to help us......tough for us!!
