Guest guest
Theresa, in SC What a frightening experience for you and your family! I am watching the news as I type and things do look dangerous. We are expecting the aftermath up here. We have been told to expect strong winds and rain for a day or so towards the weekend, I wish that is all that falls on you! Tell Ellen that she will have a story to tell about her 15th birthday that not many people can top!! Ask her if she will do a project of taking pictures, writing down comments, and such - to prove to her grandchildren that her stories are true!! Perhaps a picture could be scanned so that we could all see for ourselves? PLEASE, be careful. wendy in canada
Guest guest
Theresa, things will be OK,I'll be praying for God's protection over your family.Beth in IN. hurricane Hi list We are right in the path of Hurricane Floyd. It is suppose to hit here early Thursday morning.Schools have already canceled for tomorrow. The interstate traffic is bumper-to-bumper with people evacuating. We were hit by Hugo in 1989 and it was terrifying. This one is a lot more powerful.Tomorrow is Ellen's birthday, and she is saying great, what a way to remember her 15th birthday. My son is stuck at Myrtle Beach. He said he can't get out because his car won't make it and they won't let anyone in because there has been a mandatory evacuation.I told him to go to a shelter now, before they are filled. He is 20 and thinks he is invincible, but I am getting the impression that he is scared. He's called here numerous times and we have been calling him.He says it would take 6 hours to go 30 miles because of the evacuation. and I are suppose to go to Va.Beach tomorrow for her to attend a conference, and it hasn't been canceled.I-95 may be completely backed up tomorrow and then I'm not going. We may also be jumping from the frying pan into the fire. This whole situation is a mess. Oh,well,we'll be doing a lot of praying and maybe everything will be all right. Theresa,S.C.

Guest guest
How much more can these poor people endure, there is a friend of mine whose sister lives in or rather did in Port Charlotte,.. they did not think the hurricane would change path, it would not be bad, so they would go down to Miami to her sister for the day Their house on the beach was destroyed along with two boats, they ended up with only the clothes on their backs. We know that others were not lucky and lost their lives. Another friend went from Ocala to relatives up in Orlando, we all know that the storm turned and Orlando was hit worse than where he lives, he just got a tree blown down in Ocala.. My SIL in Daytona Beach, had her fence and a tree blown down she said she had thought it would be much worse, had filled the bathtub with water, made a lot of iced tea and made bags of ice for the freezer to keep it cool.Just a hard blow for them, How are you in Helen, you got a bad rain out in Ohio, I believe we got a bit of it yesterday and last Saturday, we had terrible cloudbursts, the normally placid brook went into it winter thaw mode, a raging torrent of water., the backyard was under water yesterday to the top of sneakers.. This time of year, I usually have to water plants back there, be careful of water usage, and the brook is only a couple inches deep, not two feet and rising.. This bad weather is all over the world, wonder what is wrong In Peru the seas are wild and rough, and it is very windy , the birds my friend has are very scared. she has to keep the covers on the cages in daytime. Having no birds myself, I don't know why that is, .. In England the floods were very bad according to the news, Sikorskys had to be used to pluck people of roof tops. Guest guest
This is horrible for those poor souls down there. has not checked in from Daytona yet. I am praying very hard for her being all by herself, she lost her husband, my son, some 32 years ago,she was working when she was run into by a drunk and got her leg serverely damaged that required a brace for many years, then then leg gave out, it was removed. she has an artificial leg, she also has asthma badly.I cannot imagine her neigbors not helping her to board up all the windows, they were panicked to get out, shows human inhumanity. Yep you are going to get wrath from Francis I guess, we got that rain last week, I guess from Gaston, the flooding is over, but I still hear that stream raging through! Love and a lot of prayers going up today for all Anne
Guest guest
Hey Sharon: The winds are really start to pick up down here now. We have some wind gusts that are really twisting the trees around a bit. The rain is getting heavier and constant now. Roads are starting to flood. The CauseWay is starting to flood and is closed and down in Orange Beach and Gulf Shores the news is showing piers that have already busted apart. I'll keep ya posted as long as I can. They are saying that the actual eye is coming on shore around midnight. Some have already lost power in Fairhope...so far we still have ours. Guest guest
I will be glad when these storms are over too and I don't live in that area. I just feel like it's hanging over me too . My grandson has been living and working in New Orleans for some time now. He and a friend, and the friend's dog, left N.O. to drive home to Houston about noon yesterday and got to Baton Rouge 12 hours later. It should have taken 45 minutes. It took them another 8 hours to get to Houston. Very glad to get home. Quite an ordeal. Jessie
Guest guest
Wow, I have been watching this all week. I live in Ohio, which is obviously OK, but I worry so much about everyone in the area. You are much braver that me. I would die of panic if I had to go through a hurricane. You are in our prayers. Guest guest
Our prayers are with all victims of this horrible disaster. This has been very heart wrenching to view. My father was affected by the last hurricane that went thru Florida, as he lives in Broward County......we are blessed that he is safe & sound. We're already getting rains related to the outer bands of Katrina and we have flood warnings this evening. Again....we are blessed. There is NO comparison to the devastation that has affected the southern states. Kathy, I will be saying extra prayers for you & your family while Mike works to help others. ~Sandy O
