Hi Cecilia!

Thanks

for the extra info on Tami's surgery. I'm glad it was short and sweet,

so to speak. It sure could have been a lot worse so I know that this

group's prayers are strong. It will be nice to have Tami back with

us when she is feeling up to it.

Thanks

again,

Michele

I had the TTT surgery called a Fulkerson

Osteotomy and a lateral release 11/30/99. It is major open

surgery and I have a 7 inch scar. I was immobilized

partial weight bearing for 7 weeks. I started PT eight

weeks psot0op and went for 4 months. It is a very

painfull and long recuperation. I have no knnecap pain or

grinding at all anymore. I do havve bad shin pain from the

2 tibial screws and I had them removed 5 months

ago. The shin feels better but not good and my os says

it could take me quite a few more months to feel

better in the shin.

I do not regret having this

done since it might save me from total knee

replacement.

Cari

best thing is that when they went in to do the scope, they found out that i dont

have a torn acl, like the mri showed. small miracles, i guess.

Hajcanglong,

Keep me posted on how you are doing and I will do the

same. I am 4 months post microfracture and I am still

taking it easy and seeing some improvement, but it is

still to early to tell. Hope you recover well.

Just tell people the kids hit you in the face with a toy. :)

2 for the price of 1. :)

When will you be getting the results of the biopsy?

It was just a bump but it's nice to be rid

> of it after 41 years.

For the past 10 years I've been *growing* all kinds of skin flaps everywhere

on my body. Everyone on my mom's side of the family used to have these, and

now I am. Totally harmless, they just look weird and get in the way, like

the one that had to be removed from where the band of my bra hit and the one

under my eyeglass arm. I have one now getting ready to be removed from right

under my left eye. The doc wants to wait until it's a bit longer. Gosh, just

color my face green and I look like a Halloween witch mask already!!

> I'm supposed to leave the big bandage on for 48 hours but it already feels

The doc expected a bandage to stay on for 2 days in a hot, Texas summer?

> I'll get the stitches out next Thurs. so it will be

That must have been a pretty big area to require stitches. None of the

cancerous lesions I had removed needed them, and that was with 2 different

docs, one being a plastic surgeon the other a dermatologist. I guess it's

just where they were as well as size.

Now keep your hands off and don't scratch! LOL

I've been yelling that at Ed ever since I took *him* to the doc the other

night with the weird rash on his arm.

It was already biopsied three weeks before the surgery and was basal cell

carcinoma. With Mohs surgery they do pathology on the tissue right after it

is removed to make sure they got it all. I don't think it needs more

analysis.

Mmmmm...... sounds attractive. :) I get them on my neck but it's under my

hair so doesn't show.

> The doc expected a bandage to stay on for 2 days in a hot, Texas summer?

I have to swab my chin with rubbing alcohol so the bandaid will stay on.

The oils in my skin make the bandaid come off and my skin isn't particularly

oily.

> That must have been a pretty big area to require stitches.

I'm surprised that the incision is so long. It's over an inch. I can't use

an inch wide bandaid so it's probably more like 1 1/4 inches. He put in 8

stitches.

> Now keep your hands off and don't scratch! LOL

Eeeewwwww..... I couldn't scratch even if I wanted to with stitches.

Wow! Not much time to prepare, but then again, a new knee!!! (Or hip.)

Good luck. I hope everything goes totally right.

Surgery

Well I got some shocking news the other day while standing around with

one of my friends. My orthopedic surgeons office called with a

cancellation and moved my surgery from next July to... Sept 20th (this

month) I was happy and took the surgery date. There was no way I was

going to wait for the next cancellation.

Anyways... :) Just wanted to update. Now i'm not sure what to expect

with some much else going on with my life right now, I get to add

surgery on top of all that!

; remind us all - what were you getting done?

Or is this an exploratory/ fact finding mission by the OS??

I am having a patella shave done, to remove all the frayed cartiledge,

arthoscopic sugery. And they are giving me a cortison injection into

my heel at the same time...

That's all I know for now...

Anyone got any advice on this all?

It wouldn't surprise me if they are also planning a lateral release but may not

have told you yet.
