Guest guest
Does anyone know if coffee or chocolate is banned after HM surgery? I have given up so many foods, but I couldn't cope without coffee and chocolate. I think I read somewhere that these might be off limits, but I don't know if it is true or not. from Australia

Some people with acid reflux find that chocolate or coffee can make it worse. We are all different though and what bothers one does not bother another. Probably, you won't even have a problem with reflux. If they put you on a PPI you shouldn't have a problem with acid. Some doctors automatically do that. Some people may also find that they have more spasms with foods like these that can be irritating to the esophagus. Others find no connection with their spasms and the food they eat. notan
Guest guest
I have a latte every day (HM 10 months ago), but chocolate is *always* a problem for me. As someone earlier than me said, your mileage may vary As another data point - some people (pre- and post-surgery) have better luck with carbonated beverages. I basically cannot have them at all (either before or after). It just depends > > Does anyone know if coffee or chocolate is banned after HM surgery? > I have given up so many foods, but I couldn't cope without coffee and chocolate. > I think I read somewhere that these might be off limits, but I don't know if it is true or not. > > from Australia >
Guest guest
My husband cannot drink coffee any more -- he drinks tea. Although I do see he tried to have some coffee today while I was at work - I wonder how that went for him. The only soda he can drink is the Mountain Dew throwback - he said because it has " real " sugar in it. He eats chocolate no problem - in fact that's about all he eats. It's all the regular non-chocolate foods he's having trouble with. The latest catastrophe was Sunday's spaghetti. > > Does anyone know if coffee or chocolate is banned after HM surgery? > I have given up so many foods, but I couldn't cope without coffee and chocolate. > I think I read somewhere that these might be off limits, but I don't know if it is true or not. > > from Australia >
Guest guest
Hi It's seems to vary the general opinion but I wasn't told to specifically avoid any foods and coffee and chocolate are certainly not a problem for me. Guest guest
, I thought spagehetti was one of the easier things to eat..that's no good! I find that soft drinks with 'real' sugar work better than the diet variety. During my 6 years of having 'reflux' I have still had coffee and chocolate without a problem. I know for some with reflux they can't. So hoping after my HM it will be good for me too! > > > > Does anyone know if coffee or chocolate is banned after HM surgery? > > I have given up so many foods, but I couldn't cope without coffee and chocolate. > > I think I read somewhere that these might be off limits, but I don't know if it is true or not. > > > > from Australia > > >

Guest guest
He thought he'd be ok with just a small portion but he wasn't. He also can't eat my homemade mac & cheese -- but he can eat the stuff out of the box. Go figure.... > > > > > > Does anyone know if coffee or chocolate is banned after HM surgery? > > > I have given up so many foods, but I couldn't cope without coffee and > chocolate. > > > I think I read somewhere that these might be off limits, but I don't > know if it is true or not. > > > > > > from Australia > > > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > As a member of this group, you are invited to join the HealthShare Groups > community center located at http://healthsharegroups.org. Guest guest
This is embarrassing, but we're all friends here, right? I find that I have a problem still with soft foods like pasta, bread, pancakes - because I really don't think I'm chewing them enough. Meat I chew and chew and chew and it's fine but I think I need to chew softer foods more. I'm sure this isn't the case for your husband, but had to mention it, just in case. > > > > Does anyone know if coffee or chocolate is banned after HM surgery? > > I have given up so many foods, but I couldn't cope without coffee and chocolate. > > I think I read somewhere that these might be off limits, but I don't know if it is true or not. > > > > from Australia > > >
Guest guest
Because he's a man ... a stubborn one .. who seems to think that as long as he doesn't go to the dr he is ok. His prescription runs out in December -- they always renew it for a whole year. I'm hoping this year they insist he come in. In fact, he actually is hoping to double his dose, so he has acknowledged that he will probably actually have to SEE the dr in order to do that. > & gt; > & gt; Does anyone know if coffee or chocolate is banned after HM surgery? > & gt; I have given up so many foods, but I couldn & #39;t cope without coffee and chocolate. > & gt; I think I read somewhere that these might be off limits, but I don & #39;t know if it is true or not. > & gt; > & gt; from Australia > & gt; > > > > >
