Guest guest
I found not eating before I had to be in public was the best solution. I didn't tend to spit up liquids so drinking was okday. I carried paper towels and would spit into them, but because I avoided eating I didn't have much to spit. A water bottle would probably work too. I was lucky at work to be in a room with a sink and next door to a bathroom. But timing the eating was the best way to go. Surgery is the best solution though. I am afraid that it will cause more trouble for her in the long run. Any thoughts would be appreciated. > > Thanks > Shamira >
Guest guest
Thank you Ann. She does this even when at home. For her at the moment it is liquids also. She has had a myotomy in Aug of last year. Her current GI has been talking about a second myotomy but then he has been giving us the run around about too. He says first she has to have 2 failed dialtions while in his care ....done, she has to have Botox but she can't have it because she has unexplained weakness, and he hasn't found any one willing to dilate her past 15 mm or perform the surgery. We are in the process of getting her seen by another GI. I have emailed Dr. Patti and am waiting to call Dr. Hollcomb Monday. There is a Dr. Kastens here in Oklahoma who is supposed to be the best in Oklahoma, and her PCP says that she has to go there first. So we are pursuing this on our own. Again thank you Shamira ________________________________ From: pizza_slayer <awilliams@...> achalasia Sent: Saturday, October 22, 2011 7:54 AM Subject: Re: To fight or not to fight...lol  I found not eating before I had to be in public was the best solution. Guest guest
Hello I too have t he problem of spitting up at times even with liquids as embarassing. As it is I try to eat because I have lost such weight and like one lady posted on this board its like hydralics reswallowing back and forth eventually I will let it out and it can become tiring as it poors out for me anyways but my weight has stayed though low with no real change which is better because when I drank just broth or what I could keep down I was loosing weight and today though it feels like I keep barley anything in I did have a normal bowl movement. I wish the best of luck to ur daughter as spitting up or fighting i t is embarassing and difficult this is just my experience. Ill keep u in prayer =) > > > > I was wondering where you all stand on fighting spitting up. My daughter now 13 fights it and she looks very uncomfortable doing it. Guest guest
I find it is usually a huge bubble of air that is trying to push the food back up. I stand up, walk(towards the bathroom) stretch my arms overhead, reach one arm way up and then the other, bend side to side while stretching up and out, twisting my torso while holding my hips still. Usually that works, but not always. If it doesn't, I am in the bathroom where I need to be...no fight. in Santa Barbara In a message dated 11/1/2011 11:31:53 A.M.
