Guest guest
Hi Sam, glad you posted, I was wondering how you were going. You know I haven't had my op done yet, but I have had 3 c-sections and my gall bladder out and I was very sore for days following each op. I would think it would be quite normal, but hopefully someone else here who has already had the op can clarify it for you. from Australia > > Hi everyone, well its been 5 days now since I had my heller myotomy with Fundoplication wrap. I have just been reading some of your past post of your post op experiences and was amazed at how so many of you recovered so quickly. I have been sore since coming out of hospital on fri. The gas pain in my stomach and incision sites hurt so much I found moving around very painful and have spent a lot of time in bed or on the sofa. I have no appetite but have managed to eat solids which is amazing. My portion size is so small can't think I will ever be able to eat a whole dinner again. Just wandered if anyone else had had any trouble with movement after surgery as I'm starting to think its only me. Sam x. >
Guest guest
Yes, it is normal to be sore for a week or so. The more you walk the better, gets rid of the gas causing alot of the pain. Even walking in place will help you. At first you only eat small amounts, there is swelling inside so take it easy on food. You will gradually increase your portions, but you may never be able to eat a large meal. Several small meals are better for you. Good luck with your recovery. Follow up is crucial to your long term health. BC
Guest guest
Hi Sam, I know I was pretty sore (shoulder and back pain from gas, abdominal muscle pain, hurt to breathe or cough, incision pain) for 3 or 4 days- but as horrible as walking around felt, it sped up he process. My husband harassed me into walking every few hours. The abdominal pain was moderate but consistently here for maybe a week, then only notable if doing things that used those muscles for another couple weeks. Incision sites were sore much longer-- especially the one that went deeper than the others. Everyone heals differently-- mad has different perceptions of pain. I would encourage you to walk though- and use that annoying breathing spirometer. As far as meal size, that took awhile for me too. I still feel better on smaller more frequent meals, but feel like I can eat a " normal " moderate sized meal. My sensations for full and hungry seem different than before. Good luck with your healing On Oct 19, 2011, at 11:33 AM, " Sam " <smoothiequeen94@...> wrote: > Just wandered if anyone else had had any trouble with movement after surgery as I'm starting to think its only me. Guest guest
Hi Steph thank u for your advice. I definately feel better to be able to move around easier. My shoulder pain has eased off so thats good. I have noticed that 3 of my Incision sites are sorer than others but Im sure they r healing. Do u know when u need to take your dressings off your stitches ? Mine r dissolvable and im worried I might catch them. I must say I would be lost without my pillow! Guest guest
Hi , its just a regular pillow but you will need one. Coming home in a car from hospital without one will hurt a lot. I used my to walk around with and sit with as it seems to help when u laugh, cough, sneeze well pretty much everything. I am 10 days post HM and still relie in mine. Guest guest
Sam everyone recoups at different speeds. I for one was slow to recover because I had a " more than normal " amount of post op pain and tiredness. Just be gentle with yourself and you should find every day will get a little bit easier!!! SO GOOD you are eating! The operation helped me tremendously!!! Hang in there! You will get there!
