Rupture un-noticed ?

Hi,

Hope all is good. Just a small question. ... How can we be sure if there was no

rupture during dilatation? Doctor has cleared the x ray result however this

thing is still in my mind - is there any chance if doctor misses the rupture and

patient starts experiencing the complications later ? In that case what could

possibly be the symptoms ?

Thanks

The main concern with a rupture is that they can cause infection. The

main thing to look for is fever. Any kind of trauma, even surgery or

dilatation, can cause a small bump in temperature because of the

activity of the immune system healing the trauma. So a fever of more

than a small rise would be the first clue. The trauma from the

dilatation can also cause some pain. That pain should get better as the

body heals and adjusts. If the pain gets worse it could be pain from a

spreading infection. Increasing pain would be a clue. The trauma and the

activity of the immune system can make a person feel a little sick. That

feeling should quickly pass. If it does not pass but gets worse it could

be a spreading infection.

Our bodies don't all respond the same to things like dilatation or

infections. The main things is that one should get better, however that

person normally responds, and if not or symptoms seem out of line from

what should be expected then maybe something is wrong.
