Guest guest
Haydee, I have several of your posts and was hoping your HM was a complete success since you had such a qualified surgeon. Maybe a little adjustment is all you need. I had a HM w/Dor April 2010 and have not had a great time since. October 2010 I had a dilation because I had an obstruction, not sure if scar tissue or what. I guess it opened the LES but my spasms and pain kept increasing and by Christmas 2010 I was not eating, only drinking Ensure. January 2011 I went to Mayo Clinic in MN willing to do ANYTHING to feel better and eat again. After several test I was given some pills that took the edge off the pain so I could eat some but they gave me fog brain. May 2011 I went to a motility expert who diagnosed me with bacteria overgrowth after more testing. Bloating, gas and belching were controlling my life and I had dropped 40 pounds by this time. An antibiotic gave me much needed relief and I was finally able to eat and gain some weight. Life is not great but I do feel better. Do NOT give up, keep repeating your health problems until you can get a specialist who will listen, diagnose and treat!! Since this is so rare there are few doctors who understand A and understand their patients symptoms. Be very explicit with each symptom you have, keep notes and be persistent. With each of us our condition varies and complications are never " one size fits all. " Good luck with your search!! BC
Guest guest
I'm sorry that you're having problems but glad you posted this because I am having issues, too. I had HM in December and having problems with regurgitation now. It has just been the last 4-5 days, but random things aren't staying down (but they aren't immediately coming back up like they did pre-surgery). I am going to contact my doctor on Monday, but I am worried that something didn't go right in surgery... > > Hi I have a question. I had a heller in April. Now I've been having things stick again. I'm having a lot of spasms as well, which may be causing a lot of the liquid coming back up. I went for a Barium today and things moved slowly but did go through. When I swallowed the pill that stuck. It didn't loosen with more barium liquid or water. They had me lay and turn several times and drink but it didn't move until I drank the fizzy stuff. Does anyone know what steps may be next? I see the dr Monday but I'm really wondering what's next. I realize dilatations are sometimes needed, does that cause any future problems? Would a second heller poss be needed? Would it be wise to see another specialist for an opinion? My surgeon is Dr Rosemurgy with USF-Tampa General. He's performed about 600 HMs. > > Thanks >
Guest guest
Thank you Barb for the encouragement. I think you hit the nail on the head, I think part of my reluctance in going back to the surgeon is that I'm afraid that he may tell me he did the surgery, it was successful and that I should be better. There is nothing worse than a doc downplaying how you may be feeling. I hope that doesn't happen. I had the barium swallow on Friday. The barium did go through but slowly. The pill stuck and didn't budge with several gulps of barium or water. They had me turning from side to side to see then a 360 laying down to see if gravity would dislodge it. Finally they mixed a fizzy drink and that pushed it through. I go to the surgeon Monday so hopefuly I'll have some answers. > > Haydee, > I have several of your posts and was hoping your HM was a complete success since you had such a qualified surgeon. > Maybe a little adjustment is all you need.
