Guest guest
I can only speak for myself here, but I can relate to the violently throwing up for long periods of time, even hours after eating.  I know many people with achalasia who can't throw up, but I'm not one of those people.  (I had hyperemesis gravidarum last year when I was pregnant and spent more time than I thought possible throwing up).  I find that when I have severe spasms, I can either get pains into my jaw, or start throwing up.  This often lasts for hours (normally at least 2 or 3 before everything that I've eaten in the last 2 days has come up), and can start anywhere from an hour to 5 or 6 after I've last eaten.  It normally does happen when I'm having a particularly bad day with getting things to go down though. I've read your posts over the years and I feel so badly for your husband.  I wish that he could see that if he would just go back to his doctor and have a look, he might have no more issues.  Men, eh... what would we do without them kim in canada ________________________________ From: milwaukeemommy <milwaukeemommy@...> achalasia Sent: Monday, October 17, 2011 9:14 PM Subject: Speaking of regurgitation....  I am wondering how long after eating you .... regurgitate. As some of you know my husband has A & had the Heller back in 2008. He went for a follow up check up in April 09 & had a subsequent Endoscopy because the dr " saw something " . The dr never called with results, & my husband never called him. That was his last time seeing or talking to a dr. He's had many problems over the last 3 years, some I've posted, some I haven't. Lots & lots & LOTS of coughing -- he's a welder so that probably doesn't help. No energy. Can't sleep. He went through a stage about a year ago where he couldn't eat again. It lasted about a month. He works 2nd shift so we don't see each other much. I only know what I see. So Saturday night I was upstairs with my kids & heard my husband in the bathroom throwing up. Violently. For about an hour. This was about 4 hours after eating dinner & he hadn't eaten anything after. He will not share with me how he's doing or feeling, or how often this happens, & like I said seeing him only on weekends, well that's all I see. So.....is it still A related if it's that long after eating?? Can food sit in the esophagus for that long?? When he was first diagnosed, the food wouldn't go down at all, he'd be running to the bathroom during dinner -- so I'm not sure what's up. Guest guest
Thanks Kim -- I do feel badly for him -- & all of you -- I cannot imagine having this disease -- but I am one who goes to the dr every year, right on schedule, for all my exams -- & don't see what the fear is. But, when I bring it up, he says every time he goes to the dr they finds something wrong with him. I hate to tell him, ignoring it is not going to make it better Thanks for letting me know this does happen to others! Although, I'm so sorry it does! Men, eh... what would we do without them > > kim in canada > > > > ________________________________ > From: milwaukeemommy <milwaukeemommy@...> > achalasia > Sent: Monday, October 17, 2011 9:14 PM > Subject: Speaking of regurgitation.... > > >  > I am wondering how long after eating you .... regurgitate.
