Guest guest
Hi Scarlett, You can post as much as you need to. We have all been here at that terrifying time of being unable to eat. Let us help you as others helped us. I do not know about the weight restrictions specific to Botox or surgery but do know that the general criteria for the Botox procedure is less stringent than for surgery since Botox is favored when someone is too weak to have the surgery. I have had achalasia specialists email me back when I write them directly-- and perhaps one of them can advocate on your behalf with your doctors to get you in to see the right person. Getting the right help is the first step. Then things can happen quickly to help you in the short and long term. Guest guest
There are certain requirements for weight before you have the surgery. As you can imagine the better your weight the less chance there is of any compllications before, during and after surgery. Is there any chance that you can have a PEG fitted to help you gain weight for surgery? See your doctor for a chat about this. ________________________________ From: ScarlettM & lt;scrlttmay@... & gt; achalasia Sent: Tuesday, October 11, 2011 5:53 AM Subject: weight for help  Hello again I am sorry if I am posting to much being I just started and this is already my 2nd topic. Guest guest
I don't know if the botox requires a certain weight. I had the botox injection last year. It did help but it is temporary and can cause scar tissue which might make surgery more difficult. If I were you I would print out all the information you can about achalasia and present it to CPS. Find a doctor who knows this condition and set up an appointment. Let CPS know that you have scheduled an appointment with this specialist. They have to be careful because if their decisions prevent you from getting proper treatment due to their negligence then they can be sued. Have your Mom tell them that their interfering in your getting proper treatment is resulting in damage to your health and threaten a lawsuit if that will get them to listen. Guest guest
All the evidence suggests that botox is not very effective and its effect is temporary. It certainly leaves a scar tissue which might make any future intervention difficult. This method in current environment is limited to patients who are either too old to have any other treatment or have too many health problems which makes them a poor risk for either balloon dilatation or HM Hope you get the help you need as soon as possible anil achalasia From: ravenstorm2008@...
