Hi I had my 2 screws from my Fulkerson patella

realignement removed 6/27/00. I had a spinal but I was also

sedated so I didn't hear a thing. I think they said I was

given a drug called versed. I went into the or I

remember them getting ready to do the spinal and the next

thing I remember is waking up and the os saying it was

over. I get so sick from general that I prefer this.

Good Luck and feel free to contact me if you wish

!!

Cari

I had a patella realignment in July. I read some

of the post and now I want to know when the screw

will need to come out. My os never mentioned anything

about taking it out. I have to have an epidural in

order to have any surgery due to a nerve condition. I

am very leary about that. I really don't want to

know what is going on. I'm glad to hear that you

didn't remember much about you surgery. I really don't

want to remember anything. They can sedate me heavily,

PLEASE.

I had to have my screws out due to pain and

inflmation/fluid buildup bujt there is no reason to have them

removed unless you have problems.

They way they

did my anesthetic was as effective as a general but

no side effects and pain relif lasts longer with a

spinal.

Feel free to contact me anytime

Cari

Tiff,

My IV was started and they put a

sedative in called versed and then I was positioneed for

the spinal and the next thing I remember was that I

was awake and they told me it was done and they were

just putting in the stitches.

They say with

spinals since the anesthetic is in your spinal area it

remains in your system and helps dull the pain.

I

hope this helps.

Cari

 • 10 years later...

i just came from Dr. Dempsey at the University of Penn and I must say he is such

a nice guy and very helpful. He explained all the procedures and the laproscopy

that he was going to perform on me. I explained how I wanted to get the surgery

done asap due to school starting at the end of the month. He was so

understanding that he offered to do it monday! But I decided to schedule it for

friday because I still have to send him the results of the numerous procedures I

had gotten done at the GI's such as barium swallow, manometry, etc. I'm super

excited and I can't wait to eat again! So that is my update for now.

in Philadelphia.
