Guest guest
Hassaan - is there not some provision for those who cannot fast due to medical issues? is EVERYONE required to do the full fast - even those who are pregnant or with diabetes? I certainly believe that the argument could be made that achalasia would fall into that same category. in NC > > > Hi, > Hope evryone is doing well. First of all a big thanks to all members in this group who keep on posting and helping others - thank you very much. This question is regarding 'fasting' - as some of you might be aware muslims observe the month of ramadan i.e. 30 days fasting from around 4:15 am to 7:00 pm. How do your relate the 15 hrs (approx) fasting with the spasms? > > Thanks > > Hassaan > >
Guest guest
My spasms are generally random in nature since it appears that they can happen at any time. In the past I did see a connection between being in a stressful situation and the commencement of the spasms, but that no longer seems to be an issue (not due to any less stress in my life, just handling it better). Â I still perceive a direct connection though between going longer than usual periods of not eating/drinking and experiencing spasms. No question about it. Should that happen, an immediate drink (preferably carbonated in my case), is the best solution to stopping spasms before it has a chance to ramp up and becoming unbearable. Guest guest
Hi, Thanks for the reply. Yes those who are not well and can not fast - for whatever reason - are allowed to skip. But I just wanted to confirm if 14-15 hrs fasting could result into spasms? My brother who has achalasia had experienced spasms today so I was trying to relate it with fasting. Guest guest
Does anyone have a situation where food is stuck and they feel they may need an endoscopy to get it out. Then we have to wait it out. Guest guest
I get spasms if I go too long without eating. The last time I tried to fast, I had a very long, horrible episode of spasms lasting over 24 hours. I have been way too chicken to try fasting again! Fasting is a no no if you have spasms, in my opinion.
