Guest guest
Hi Marcene, My name is Caroll. I also have Achalasia. During my research, I found the Clevelenad Clinic and the Mayo Clinic specializes in this disease. You can look on their websites for locations around the country. I live in Michigan and couldn't afford to travel to these clinics but I had the Heller Myotomy with Fundoplication in August at a local hospital here in Royal Oak, MI. I'm doing great! My doctors specialize in Thoracic surgery which is the area they operate on for this disease. It will take a couple of weeks to get back to normal eating, but its worth it. Hope this helps Caroll > > How can I find a list of Achalasia specialists in California or near > Northern California? Guest guest
Hi, Go to the group list, go to database go to referral list... scroll through. this list needs to be weeded and cultivated.. in your  subject line of your next post put Nor Cal Specialist needed.. that should get you responses. Dr Patti used to be here, but moved to head the esophageal research at the U of Chicago and I am looking too... I don't care for his associate Dr. Ostroff... Carolyn Holmesmom of Cameron in N Camyo'd and fundo'd in 05 From: Marcene Rainey <marcenerainey@...> Subject: specialists list achalasia Date: Monday, September 12, 2011, 2:48 PM  How can I find a list of Achalasia specialists in California or near Northern California? Guest guest
Hi Marcene, First of all, didn't you have your HM just in April? Are you having trouble? I thought you went to Cedars Sinai.. I did a lot of web searching to come up with nothing in the Bay Area - -I did find someone in Portland, and in Sacramento. I might be able to dig those up if you aren't able to find them. Carolyn pointed you to the list in the archives, and I recently added my surgeon & GI to that list - both are in San , CA. Dr Marc Zare -- trained at UNC and did >200 HM's there. Practices at Good Samaritan hospital in San , CA. I had my HM with him 7/5/2011 and have nothing but good things to say about him, the anesthesiologists, and the rest of the surgical & nursing staff at Good Sam. Dr. Geoffrey S. Spencer -- trained at U Penn in swallowing clinic under person who is now at Mayo. Has seen hundreds of achalasia patients, can diagnose, do endoscopy, balloon dilation, interpret results, make treatment recommendations, etc. I was impressed with his thorough interview and depth of knowledge about achalasia. I hope you are just finding someone to help with followup at your 4 month appointment but feeling great and not looking for some sort of corrective actions. > How can I find a list of Achalasia specialists in California or near > > Northern California?
