Hello:

I am booked for a dilation procedure for September 2nd at Toronto St. 's

hospital. The procedure will be done by Dr. May who I was referred to by my

specialist Dr. Ying. Has anyone had similar procedure done on them by the above

Dr.?

In the meantime, I am booked for an acupuncture/reiki treatment with a holistic

doctor in Toronto. The treatment is based on a Japanese style acupuncture and

recommended by my sister. I know a few people responded to my earlier post not

finding acupuncture a benefit to them.

I am looking forward to both with an open mind, Not knowing if either or both

improve my achalasia symptoms. I had my physical with my GP last week and

according to his notes, I have lost over 20 Lbs in the last 2 years. Considering

my small stature (yes, I am a little guy) there is considerable concern. I am

currently at 147 Lbs and like to keep my weight at 155-160 Lbs if possible.

Hi Ben

I lived in Toronto, Islington , that was 50 years ago, now in California.

I have had NO procedures and at one time was considering dilation. Achalasia

last 6 years, feeling great now. I started on real butter with " everything " and

Magnesium 250 mg a day , sometimes two a day.

I am on Crestor also. Fat from butter might cause indigestion if you are in the

early stages of Achalasia. Later my LES closed up so no indigestion now and then

stopped the PPI's NEXIUM.

Magnesium I believe relaxes the LES and butter is a fat that has been reported

in medical reports on GERD to open the LES and relax it.

PS if you are having bowel problems, the Magnesium will make your

day! PPI's cause stomach problems making it hard to digest food, in my opinion!

Hi Ray;

Thanks for all the info/tips. I went out and got some Magnesium 250 mg today. I

have heard from others on benefit of butter as well. I have been a health junky

and don't know if I can pick up my old bad habits but I am willing to try if it

means having a better time with my Achalasia.

Ben

P.S. my girlfriend and I will be visiting California in November. Much nicer

than Toronto at that time of the year.
