Guest guest
Thank you so much for writing this. I am 23 y/o and i was just diagnosed two weeks ago with achalasia. Im from philadelphia pennsylvania. I am suppose to be getting a botox treatment but by the way people are writing about it i think i am just going to get the surgery. Now do u have any left over scaring from the surgery? Guest guest
,  If you have the surgery done lapro...you will have 5 tiny incisions, I had the surgery a year ago and you would really have to look hard to see them now, they will heal up and no biggie. Good luck!  Julee So. Guest guest
I have only seen Dr. Beirhoff and Dr. Boon. Dr. Beirhoff gave me a dilation last year but it only helped for about a day. Dr. Boon was the one who just recently diagnosed me several weeks ago with achalasia. Dr. Boon had suggested I get the botox and so then I went for a second opinion to Dr. Beirhoff who also said to do the botox even though he had not seen any documents about my prior visit to Dr. Boon. He had no records of what was found during my esophageal minometry so then I was really questioning if it was the right thing to do. Yes, I do live in Philadelphia. He made us feel like I was his only patient. > > > > >OH yeah...meant to add that my left shoulder really hurt worse than anything for about a week after surgery! Guest guest
If it were me, I would bypass the botox and do the surgery!
