Guest guest
I had the baloon in 1978 and it lasted for several years, yes there were more dilations between then and 1999 when my myotomy was performed, but I also still have to have dilations after having the myotomy, just not as often. They do work and most effectively for some people and for some will last a long, long time.  Sharon From: kimellenbailey <kimellenbailey@...> Subject: rigidflex balloon achalasia Date: Tuesday, July 26, 2011, 7:13 PM  do not some people have the balloon and it works for quite a while? i am a 54 year old female. Guest guest
Good morning. My son has the balloon every 4 months and I am tired of it. So far he has had 16 in the past 5 years. I want to give the myotomy a try but its hard to find a specialists here in Texas that has performed the surgery many times.I believe the balloon works better on adults than teenagers because of the growth. Guest guest
What part of Texas are you located? I am in the Houston area, but the surgeon that did my myotomy has retired. So if I have to have anymore surgeries, I will have to find a new one. My GI does my balloon dilations.
