Guest guest
Had my myotomy Wednesday with Dr. Luketich, released the next day, staying in Pittsburgh into next week, during recovery phase. Very glad I came from DC for this surgery. It was " text book " and went very well, I am already feeling quite human as long as I'm on painkillers. I had to do it at UPMC Mercy (Catholic hospital absorbed by UPMC a few years ago) because of my insurance (Aetna), and thus had to wait for the one day per month that Luketich does surgery at Mercy. Great hospital though, with the caring you expect from a Catholic institution, and warm and beautiful arts and crafts renovation, and great on-site staff (Dr. Awais) overseeing recovery. Super-cheap accomodations on-site for out-of-town family and recovering patients. A posse of fellows (including one from Mass General in Boston) are here to learn from the master, but he does the essential part himself. The worst part is being on clear liquids post-recovery, while my husband samples all the amazing Italian food of Pittsburgh.
Guest guest
So glad to hear it went well. I found it to be an amazing feeling to swallow so easily immediately after surgery. Guest guest
Glad your experience was so positive. I had my heller myo with dr. Luketich in oct 2010 also at UPMC mercy because of insurance! I had the same exact experience as you and I am doing great. I wish you a speedy recovery and happy swallowing for many many years!!!
