Guest guest
Went to Liverpool to see the surgeon this morning and to be honest i don't feel really any wiser for seeing him. Firstly the results from the biopsies were not back yet and he himself had no idea that i'd had a gastroscopy done last monday with the biopsies. However i had a copy of the report that the endoscopy department gave me with me so i handed that to him for a look see. He has decided that like the GI who did the gastroscopy last week the surgeon wants me to go ahead and have a Barium Swallow and see him in clinic afterwards. He left the room without giving me the letter for the Outpatient Appointment Receptionist so that i can arrange an appointment after the Barium, and i didn't realise until after the clinic finished. So i phoned the surgeons secretary up and explained the situation to her and she said to ring her when i have had the date for the Barium and she will ensure that i get an outpatient appointment to see the surgeon. Now the surgeon is requesting that i have the Barium in the next 2-3 weeks and he has also warned me that there is not a lot that he can do to help with the Achalasia symptoms in that leftover piece of gullet that i have left. I may ring the Oesophageal Patients Association here in the UK for a chat about what happens after the ectomy has been done and there are still symptoms, we'll see. from the UK
