Hi Deborah,

Sorry to hear that you have been so sick.  The vomiting thing is nasty, I

have been on and off IBS which can cause lots of nausea.  Not sure why after

the

endo you are tender, but the stomach is finicky and many of us can react to

instruments being prodded into that area...it will heal up.  I think eating the

soup is excellant...I do the same when my tummy issues flair up.  Eat bland for

awhile, all these things take time.  I know many women that have had that lap

band done, and their tummys are sensitive for years afterwords...take care and

Happy New Year!!!!

Subject: recent edoscopy

Hi, Achalasians,

I had a very nasty ulcer running horizontally just above my LES, with

its

almost out of control gastritis, and I had an endoscopy with a doctor rec'd

by my new G.P.  When this new gastro. guy saw the ulcer, he told me

I'd have to go on about 4 to 5 months of proton pump inhibitors.  I told him

I have had benign tumors from that stuff, which had to be removed and he

said, yes, but they are benign.

I started thinking about the man who did my manometry over at Cedars,

Dr. J. Conklin, so I managed to get an appointment over there, I went, he put

me on carraphate (sp?) / slurry pills, and in two weeks I had another endo.

with Conklin, this time, and my ulcer is gone.  I'm still taking the slurry

pills and I have had very little pain now.

My other problem is that I started vomiting, had loads of nausea for

a day and a half after this last endo.  I'll call Conklin's office and tell

them

tomorrow.

My ribs hurt from the vomiting.  Man, I was totaled-out tired for

two

days after this jazz.  (Makes me think I need to run up and down stairs,

do sit-ups and start jogging...so, I WILL.)  Jeeze-Looeeze, even my back

hurts from the vomiting and now it's been about four days since.  Woof!

Anybody else out there vomit after an endo.?  Just wondering.

I've put myself on a soft food diet for now so I'm feeling much

better.

Funny, isn't it, how after not being able to eat certain foods (meat, bread,

some salad) those foods do not look appealing any longer.  I made a huge

tank of chicken noodle soup and it was SO GREAT!  Easy to eat, warm

and flavorful and I felt SO GOOD again, once I could hold food down.

May all of you have a great New Year and I hope you have soup, too!

Cheers,

Deborah, still at the beach

An endo can be irritating to the esophagus. On rare occasions a

perforation can even happen. It may have irritated the area of the gag

reflex. If you had the manometry you probably remember the probe hitting

that area. Or maybe you just picked up a bug at the same time.
