Guest guest
Yes, you're right; I do remember the manometry and very well, too. I can't have lidocaine (sp?) so they did not use that spray on the back of my throat. I doubt it's of much help, really. They DID go down to the pyloric sphincter and I was gagging. It helped enormously that they let me watch the full-color spectrum results as they ran the tests. I found the entire thing fascinating. Should I ever need another similar test, I'm going to keep that distraction in mind and I recommend it to everyone here, too: if the test is uncomfortable, ask for the view of the test as it proceeds, if possible, or ask the technician/doctor performing the test to describe what is happening as it occurs. I mind these procedures much, much less, if at all (and I'm talking about the temporary physical discomfort) if I am included in the process via discussions or the actual work involved. Manometry tests are so pretty, too, on screen. Fascinating. Dr. Conklin showed me the entire process as we went along and I really got a lot out of it.
