Guest guest
Hello everyone -- I had a consult with Dr. Marc Zare in San today and he is willing to do my Hellyer Myotomy as soon as Friday, or maybe next week if I can get & hold down more liquids. Does anyone have any good or bad experiences with him? The visit was very thorough and he seems quite knowledgeable. (The list of questions from here was great.) He has done 20 Hellyer Myotomies in the past 3 years, and did many more before when he was at UNC. I realize he is not one of the top 10 in the country like Dr. Maish at UCLA or Dr. Nichols at Mayo -- but I am feeling some timing pressure. I have switched to a liquid only diet rather than including some soft foods and hoping I can slow down the weight loss & up the calories enough to wait a little longer and maybe have more choices about who could do the surgery. The soonest I could get into Mayo is July 11 and that seems like a long time away from now. Thanks.
Guest guest
I wish you the best with your visit and follow-up. July 11 for Mayo may feel like a long time away, but remember that once you visit for the initial appointment they schedule the testing immediately and even surgery while you are there, usually in a week or so. Most hospitals schedule the testing weeks later......Mayo is so efficient and quick to treat medical conditions. Good luck!!
