Hi Deborah,

Its always good to hear from you, but much better when you are not troubled by

this disease (disorder, whatever we shall call it, but I agree with Notan on

this one).

Stress can cause what you are going thru, but at the same time I have to

wonder,

what it it is not stress causing these problems you have been having lately.

What then?

I recall (hopefully correctly) that you had health insurance issues. If that is

still the case, perhaps you can see if the reduction of stress results in the

reduction of symptoms.

If not, I suspect you might need a dilatation to relieve symptoms. I would not

suggest a second myotomy yet.

In any event, if reduction of stress doesn not reduce symptoms, you must get

yourself examined.

I hope you get better soon.

Subject: starting to have occasional little problems

Hi, Fellow Achalasians,

I've been having little problems lately and I'm thinking it's due to

stress.

My myotomy was in January 2006 and since then, my single biggest problem

has been saliva pooling.  If it's really bad, I wake up gagging and coughing,

and

trying to get my breathing back to normal.

But then, just recently, I've had nausea and a lot of vomiting,

too.  And

about two weeks ago it was awful: vomiting, gagging, up and down to the

bathroom during the wee hours, bringing up bile, and finally getting to sleep

at 11 a.m.  I tried to link it with what I was eating but it didn't signify.

And

I've been getting more NCCPs too.

So.  Stress?  (I've got some Blue Ribbon ticket items on-going

right

now in the stress dept.)  I think stress makes achalasia " act up " .

       Anybody else have this problem?

Thanks,

Deborah, still at the doggone beach in California and wish I wasn't

A good rule of thumb is that if symptoms change for the worse and don't

go back to how they were it is worth telling your doctor about.
