Hi everyone -

I have been the reading posts lately to look for any news or tips I might share

with my Dad.  I wanted to say thanks to those of you who responded a few weeks

ago with information and give you an update.

Dad had to be put back in Duke in April for a feeding tube to be inserted since

he has continued to lose so much weight and is unable to keep much food down.

He is still having some major issues with digestion (doctor thinks his stomach

is no longer digesting/moving food properly).  Has anyone experienced that or

found anything to help there?

On another note, I finally seem to have convinced my parents to take Dad off the

Reglan, which he had been on for almost 2 years.  Within 1 week, we have seen a

huge improvement in his spirits and how he is feeling.  It is amazing to me that

this one drug has so many adverse affects and yet the doctor wasn't warning us

about any of them.  Dad seems to have come out of some of his depression and has

been doing things on his own again...plus I think the jerking that had begun

while he was on the Reglan has stopped.  He is taking some natural supplements

that I found at the Organic Marketplace for GERD and he said he thinks it is

helping.

Again, thanks for all the great information and questions.  I am learning so

much here; it's great to find people who understand this disease and are willing

to share knowledge and support with others.

By the way, , I think Mom is planning to call you but not sure when.  I

am passing along information from this group to them as I come across things

that I think would help them.
