Guest guest
I guess everyones spasms are slightly different. Mine always started like a cramp or charlie horse in the middle of my chest area, I could feel them coming on and if I did not do something quickly to stop them, it would intensify into extreme pain. For me, I always could stop them if I had something handy to drink, even water would stop them. At times I would eat something like a bite of a cracker or banana. I also used to carry around things like Tums and water. What usually brought on my spasms seemed to be a number of things like bending over, sleeping too flat, being on an empty stomach or stress. Julee So Calif. ________________________________ From: s <ravenstorm2008@...> Achalasia Group <achalasia > Sent: Fri, June 10, 2011 6:20:05 PM Subject: Spasms and other achalasia symptoms  The more I read about other people's spasms I have started to realize that mine have changed over the last several months. It used to start as a kind of pain in the back of the throat that progressed to pain in the jaw and ears. Then it had become an intense muscle spasm in my right side which radiates into the jaw and ears. The pain in the ears is an intense burning sensation. These result in nausea if not treated immediately. For the last few days I have had a constant twinge and tight feeling in my back on the right side. It feels if the slightest movement will result in spasms. I am being awakened several times a night by the pain radiating into the jaw. I drink slightly warm water and then it stops but within an hour it starts back up again. I do have arthritis of my shoulder and neck on the right side and don't know if the spasms are making those muscles more tender feeling or not. I do sleep with my head elevated by a couple of big pillows. Has anyone else noticed a similar pattern with spasms increasing in severity over the course of the disease. For me cold soda causes pain in the chest. I feel like a giant air bubble is trapped. If I drink warm soda it isn't as bad. Over the past several months, I have found that it is difficult to take a deep breath without feeling like a coughing fit will result. I also have a heavy feeling in my chest similar to what you get with a chest cold but without all the cold symptoms. I do have seasonal allergies but don't know if that is the cause. Has anyone else had this problem?
Guest guest
Your last paragraph might (and I stress might) sound like walking pneumonia. Often you think you are fine. For myself I test it by trying to push out all the air from my lungs and listen for rattles in my chest. Push really hard, using all your muscles to get the last air out. It might vibrate and sound like wrinkling paper. If you put your hands over your lungs or have someone hold their hand on your back you might feel the vibration. If it is, an antibiotic cleans you up pretty quickly. You might feel tired and have night sweats, but there aren't often runny nose or sinus issues. Your arthritis might be confused with spasms. I have arthritis in a thumb and now, thinking about it, it is a very similar pain. Let us know. Guest guest
i realized after it was firm that i had A, that i had had symptoms for years. i thought it was heartburn but it was really awful, when i was out on a walk or jog as much as ten years ago, i would have to take a bottle of H20 along because of spasms in my E. i just thought i had awful heartburn and would pass it off, H2o would stop them. stress also caused them. strange how we all have 20-20 hindsight.. kim bailey > > I guess everyones spasms are slightly different. Mine always started like a > cramp or charlie horse in the middle of my chest area, I could feel them coming > on and if I did not do something quickly to stop them, it would intensify into > extreme pain. For me, I always could stop them if I had something handy to > drink, even water would stop them. At times I would eat something like a bite > of a cracker or banana. I also used to carry around things like Tums and > water. What usually brought on my spasms seemed to be a number of things like > bending over, sleeping too flat, being on an empty stomach or stress. > > > Julee So Calif. > > > > > ________________________________ > From: s <ravenstorm2008@...> > Achalasia Group <achalasia > > Sent: Fri, June 10, 2011 6:20:05 PM > Subject: Spasms and other achalasia symptoms > >  > The more I read about other people's spasms I have started to realize that > mine have changed over the last several months.
