I was just diagnosed with Achalasia and I am wanting to find a reputable surgeon

nearest to Arkansas as I can find. Doing some research, it seems Northwestern

in Chicago, Cleveland Clinic and Vanderbilt in Nashville have done quite a few,

but I am not aware of what or whom I should call or get a hold of.

I appreciate your help very much!

The Cleveland Clinic is, from all I have seen is one of the best places to go

for a HM.  I went to the Emory Hospital in Atlanta and my surgeon and his team

was very wonderful.  His name is Dr D. .  I can get you his information

if you would like it.  I would say though that you need to talk to the doctors

and get a feel how they are.  If you do not feel right about them, even though

they might be well versed in the surgery then you might not have a

good experience.  Remember in the end this is your body and you have the right

to go any where you want to.  Get informed and if you do not feel like that is

the doctor for you you can get a second or third opinion.

Have been reading the great information from all of you. Know that I must have

the surgery (HM) and am trying to pick the best surgeon. I will travel wherever

necessary. It seems that many of you have had good experiences with Dr. Rice

and Dr. Luketich. Is one a better choice than the other? Have I missed a top

surgeon?

Thanks so much!

, I've also been referred to Dr. - haven't seen him yet though. It

sounds like you had a good outcome and experience? And would recommend him?

I've heard he is one of the best in the country.

Do you live in the Atlanta area?

our surgeon was dr. rosemurgy at tampa general. He removed leigh's esophagus

about 6 weeks ago, and did a thorasic reconstruction. she is eating anything she

wants, and no more achalasia spasms. he was a great surgeon.
