Guest guest
Greetings of the Season to Everyone, After a lot of lower esophageal pain (I've got a nasty ulcer running horizonally above my LES where my gastritis is very bad, too), and worrying about what to do about it, I finally got an appointment with Conklin at Cedars. We discussed how my achalasia has been since I had the VAT and he went over my tests. He said we should try medications first, and in about two weeks I'll be having another endoscopy...he said I might have a stricture or perhaps I might need a dilation but he said let's try medications and then see. I told him how my stomach seems 'hard' a lot of the time and that food has been collecting in my throat again, even to the point where I just give up eating, lean over and let my dinner pretty much slide out and into a paper sack and into the trash. He said it sounds as if my stomach is not emptying properly. So, he is going to address that first. He was terrifically knowledgeable, kind, smart and just fun to talk with. (He's the doctor who did my original manometry.) So, I'm waiting for my pharmacy to call me when my antibiotics and a 'slurry' are ready, I am taking omeprazole twice a day and then Zantac at night. The pain is going waaaay down. Great! On the way to feeling so much better and supported by a good doctor doesn't hurt, either! all best, Deborah
