Guest guest
Maureen, You are close to dr. Marco patti at U of C in Chicago. He is top notch. Others: Dr. Rice the Cleveland clinic , Cleveland Ohio Dr. Luketich, UPMC Pittsburgh PA Again two of the best here. dr. L is my surgeon. There is also a Dr. Pelligrini that is considered an expert in achalasia. Not sure where he is located. Seattle possibly... Hope this helps c > > Hi Everyone, > > Thanks for all the info you have been giving me....I created a folder to put it all in...lol. > Since now I know my insurance will allow me to go to other hospitals I wanted to know where everyone has been to have their surgeries and disease treated to narrow my search knowing that they are excellent in what they do concerning achalasia. I live in a suburb of Milwaukee in Wisconsin. Any referrals would be great....you have now convinced me I should seek out the professionals who know what they are doing specifically when dealing with this. Names of docs, hospital and state so I can pinpoint where my insurance allows and how far we are willing to go. > Thanks! > Maureen Young >
Guest guest
Hi Maureen!! Where do you live?? I am in Waukesha. My husband has achalasia, unfortunately he was treated before I found this group & we didn't do our homework. I have absolutely no idea how much experience with achalasia his doctor had. He is having problems again, but hasn't seen the doctor in a little over 2 years. That is stubbornness on his part. I will be watching to see who you end up going to. > > Hi Everyone, > > Thanks for all the info you have been giving me....I created a folder to put it all in...lol. > Since now I know my insurance will allow me to go to other hospitals I wanted to know where everyone has been to have their surgeries and disease treated to narrow my search knowing that they are excellent in what they do concerning achalasia. Guest guest
Hi , Dr. Milikian at rush university was the doctor who proformed my surgery. To me he was an excellent surgery who had my well being as his primary interest. Through my appointments with him I learned that he does at least one surgery a month on someone with achalasia. His profile page is http://rush.photobooks.com/directory/profile.asp?dbase=main & setsize=10 & pict_id=0\ 002690. Hope this info helps and best of luck. > > > > Hi Everyone, > > > > Thanks for all the info you have been giving me....I created a folder to put it all in...lol. > > Since now I know my insurance will allow me to go to other hospitals I wanted to know where everyone has been to have their surgeries and disease treated to narrow my search knowing that they are excellent in what they do concerning achalasia. Guest guest
Maureen - I just googled dr. patti and found this link http://www.uchospitals.edu/physicians/marco-patti.html I would go to either him, Dr. Rice in Cleveland or Dr. Luketich in Pittsburgh Dr. L's email is luketichjd @ UPMC.edu - take out the spaces - I emailed him and he contacted me within a day or two personally - if you speak with him, please tell him from the Outer Banks of NC - who had an ectomy 3 1/2 years ago says hi and I'm feeling great!! Dr. Rice - from google can be reached at http://my.clevelandclinic.org/staff_directory/staff_display.aspx?doctorid=718 contact info is all there. I'm so glad you've already contacted your insurance company - that can be half the battle right there!! Keep us posted and rest easy - you're in the right direction. ~ in NC > > > > Hi Everyone, > > > > Thanks for all the info you have been giving me....I created a folder to put it all in...lol. > > Since now I know my insurance will allow me to go to other hospitals I wanted to know where everyone has been to have their surgeries and disease treated to narrow my search knowing that they are excellent in what they do concerning achalasia.
