Guest guest
, Not sure what all is going on with you. I too have started having trouble with old symptoms. Back aching, spasms, chest palpitations along with pain, and tachycardia. Back aches as soon as I eat on my right side. I had my surgery one week before . I went back roughly 6 weeks ago. He dilated me and said my stomach had taken a 45 degree turn in my chest right at diaphragm. He said I needed surgery to fix problem. He's had to do this now to about 45 esophagectomy pt's. I'm not ready for this so I will live with the symptoms until I can't take it anymore. Nausea always follows after eating and very tired. Keep your chin up. We have been through a lot. I know we can beat this disease and all its symptoms Kristi > > Went to Liverpool to see the surgeon this morning and to be honest i don't feel really any wiser for seeing him. Firstly the results from the biopsies were not back yet and he himself had no idea that i'd had a gastroscopy done last monday with the biopsies. However i had a copy of the report that the endoscopy department gave me with me so i handed that to him for a look see. He has decided that like the GI who did the gastroscopy last week the surgeon wants me to go ahead and have a Barium Swallow and see him in clinic afterwards. He left the room without giving me the letter for the Outpatient Appointment Receptionist so that i can arrange an appointment after the Barium, and i didn't realise until after the clinic finished. So i phoned the surgeons secretary up and explained the situation to her and she said to ring her when i have had the date for the Barium and she will ensure that i get an outpatient appointment to see the surgeon. Now the > surgeon is requesting that i have the Barium in the next 2-3 weeks and he has also warned me that there is not a lot that he can do to help with the Achalasia symptoms in that leftover piece of gullet that i have left. > I may ring the Oesophageal Patients Association here in the UK for a chat about what happens after the ectomy has been done and there are still symptoms, we'll see. > from the UK > >
Guest guest
Hi Kirsti Thank you for your kind thoughts and sympathy. You said that the doctor told you that your stomach had taken a 45 degree turn in your chest and that you needed to have it fixed and that he had to do this to 45 ectomy patients! Can you remember what the surgery was called so that i can ask my surgeon if this keeps happening to me and that it might explain why all of a sudden after being 6 yrs symptom free i need treatment again? from the UK From: a <kristinajohnson243@...> achalasia Sent: Tuesday, May 24, 2011 3:36 PM Subject: Re: 's despair  , Not sure what all is going on with you. Guest guest
Hi , He really didn't have a specific name for it. He noticed it on cinne barium swallow and confirmed with EGD. He is writing a paper on this very thing right now. It is Dr luketich. Its a revision where they enter the chest again free up stomach pull back down through diaphragm into stomach to straighten out again. He didn't have a name for it. This is one of the complications he has encountered now with esophagectomy patients. As we know usually this is performed for cancer patients so they have no long term data for us. They are just now learning about us now through research. Hope this helps Kristi > > > > Went to Liverpool to see the surgeon this morning and to be honest i don't feel really any wiser for seeing him. Guest guest
Wow a - that's kind of freaking me out. I haven't seen him in almost 2 years - I am going for an EGD with a local surgeon but now I'm second guessing that - he didn't give you any more details - prevalence or anything? I'm sorry to hear you're having pain again - what kind of pain is it and when does it happen? I have had a few bouts recently but I think I'm having gall bladder attacks as it's happening when I eat fried food. Other than that - I feel fine - as a precaution, I doubled up on my prilosec but I'm still only taking 20 mg. just twice a day now. Please keep me posted - I'm obviously very concerned about this. ~ in NC > > > > Went to Liverpool to see the surgeon this morning and to be honest i don't feel really any wiser for seeing him.
