Guest guest
Hello to all! I have had achalasia for the past 6 years, although it was only 12 months ago I went to get my swallowing problem looked at. I started out struggling to eat food, something I had never had a problem with before. I would bring up undigested food as I was trying to eat it or shortly after. This has changed now, I now can manage to force most things down with plenty of liquids, but I now bring the liquid up a lot later. Has anyone else had this develop in their symptoms over a period of time? I have had a barium swallow, this showed up the classic " birds beak " picture of my oesophagus. I have also had a gastroscapy (normal, if very unpleasant) and a manomatry test (inconclusive, as they couldn't get the tubes into my stomach). I finally got my date for the op through last week, its this Friday. Has anyone had the op done in Manchester UK? If so, who did the op? Was it successful? Kind regards Phil
