I think it's best to discuss this with the doctor. If done laproscopically, the

hospital stay would only be a day or two. My doctor didn't forbid me to fly, and

I wasn't in a lot of pain - the doctor just told me not to lift anything heavier

than 10 pounds for some weeks. I don't know what effect the aircraft's

pressurization would have on stitches so that's something to chat with the dr

about.

I had my myotomy back in October 2010 in Pitssburgh. I live in Atlanta. I flew

up on a Monday night. Had my consult on Tuesday and prepped for surgery Tuesday

night (drank that Golytly crap). Surgery was Wed morning. I was discharged

Friday morning and flew home Friday afternoon.

He will be sore so bring a pillow for him to hold on his incision area. it makes

mobility much easier. i had that pillow there at all times! Other than that,

flying was not an issue. he should be fine once he is released from the

hospital.

Goos luck!!

for the surgery, if we can get the insurance company to pay outside our network.

have any experience with this type of scenario, I'd very much appreciate your

insights.
