I guess saying that I had pizza for dinner says it all My last visit to any hospital was back in April 2005. I had my last three dilatations back then and havent looked back. Ofcourse I still have my bad moments but I can still eat & drink and I haven't had moments where I thought I had to go back into hospital for check ups/treatments etc. I just read some old messages (just have a search for 'biancka edwin' in 2004 and you'll find out my story) and I am in tears. I went through so much and I got so much support from everyone in this group !! I dont know if I ever thanked everyone but....THANK YOU !! I still have all the cards that were send to me and my husband printed out all the emails from this group (I still havent had the guts to read them all......it is still too much to deal with). Anyway.....this group just rocks and it is just great that everyone here relates and doesnt think you're mad for not being able to eat/drink Big hugz from The Netherlands !! Thanks for posting your happy story - it's always good to hear good long term results. A reminder for the new members - many, many people have good success with dilations or surgery and then move on to their happy healthy 'new normal' lives. When you read posts here, you are reading a lot more of the unsuccessful stories so it makes it seem like EVERYONE is having problems - when that is indeed NOT the case. Please remember when reading and posting here that what you are reading is skewed towards those who are still struggling - there are loads of people that have done well and moved on. Biancka - someone had suggested (Ann in the UK I think) that once a year, those with success stories - post their stories to remind us of all the successes out there - maybe you could do that? I'm one of the old timers too. I have not had the myotomy but had about 11 dilatations since my first diagnosis in 1986. My last one was in 2009. I am now 80 years old and consider myself a success story since I am having no problems eating. (knock on wood) I can remember the problems you were having and it's good to hear you're doing well. Time has a way of taking care of things.
