I do not share your optimism. I don't expect to find the solution to any

medical disorder.

It has been almost 12 years now that I have had my achalasia diagnosed.

I waited 6 years to get the surgery after that. I remember people

thinking even 12 years ago that a solution would be found soon. If I had

waited longer than I did my esophagus would probably be more dilated

than it is. I think I got lucky that I didn't do more damage waiting for

a solution. Today the solution seems no closer than it did then. It must

be, but it is far enough off that the years don't seem to have made much

difference on finding it.
