- He had another surgery in Nov/Dec to connect a part of his small

intestine to his stomach to try to pull food through faster. Since then, he is

able to keep a bit more food down than before BUT he won't eat much (says he

feels too full often) and when he does eat, he often still throws part of it

back up.  I am more than willing to talk to them (and push!) about seeing

another doctor who can help - thanks for the information.  I will pass your

number and information along to my Mom so maybe she can call you soon.  Thanks

so much for taking time to share information.

Ray - thanks for the additional information on Reglan.  I have been growing

increasingly concerned about that drug as I have been researching and the

website and information you provided helps.

I spoke with one of the surgeons at Duke when I was 'shopping' around - I don't

think it was the same guy but I decided NOT to go with them because the doc I

spoke with was an ass!

Is he just not getting food down? One issue I had for the first 9 months or so

post op was scar tissue - I needed multiple dilations and scraping of the tissue

- after that - I've been great now for a couple of years. It is very common to

need some post op dilations.

He needs to see someone else who is not going to 'release' him (what is he - a

fish?) in this kind of condition. This may sound crazy and impossible for

someone who is unwilling to travel much but he really needs to go to either Dr.

Rice in Cleveland or my surgeon, Dr. Luketich in Pittsburgh. They are the

absolute best on the east coast and it will be completely worth it to travel

that far - trust me, that first year - we did the 10 hours to pittsburgh a

couple of times but I feel great! If anyone can help him, it would be one of

these men.

Please feel free to call anytime, give my number to your mom, invite your mom to

join us here - she may find great comfort communicating with others who know

what she's going through - we have plenty of spouses, parents and various

significant others.

so glad to hear that your dad has seen some improvement!! There are other

motility drugs besides reglan - if they feel it's a motility problem, can't they

try something else?

Anyway, please tell your mom to call anytime but I don't usually answer calls I

don't recognize so please tell her to leave a message so I can call her back.

Glad it's all looking up!
