Hey Priti - you are very fortunate - you have several excellent options all

within just a few hours.

My first recommendation would be my surgeon, Dr. Luketich at the

University of Pittsburgh Medical Center - the hospital itself is physically

connected to a childrens hospital - I would recommend asking about a consult

with a pediatric surgeon. You could also see Dr. Rice at the Cleveland Clinic -

both widely used and highly recommended.

Good luck in your search and keep us posted.

here in NJ referred us to Dr. Richter in PA, I was able to confirm about him

through wonderful people who are part of this support group and Dr Richter

who normally does not see 16 years agreed to see my son. My experience and

impression was that he was very patient and seemed very confident. He did

recommend surgery for my son and also Cara had already implied that studies show

that for most young men that is probably the best 1st option.

appreciative if you could please let me know once again of a good surgeon around

NorthEast (Near New Jersey). We know that is our next big step to find the best

one in this journey to even hope for a sucess to make it close to normal for my

son.

Hi ,

Thank you.  What is your opinion of Dr. Dempsey?  Would you know about him

or  anyone know of him?

I do not know of any in NJ specifically but surgeons in NYC that come to mind

are Dr. Altorki and Dr. Salky. Insurance could be an issue with Salky so make

sure you ask all those insurance questions before you schedule a consult.

As you know, I went to Dr. Luketich, who I highly recommend. He is in

Pittsburgh. Although its not that close to NJ, it is in the general area. Others

have also mentioned Dr. Dempsey in the Philly area. I would check all of them

out for starters.

Good luck!

In speaking to a gastro specialist at Mayo, he said Dr. Patti(Chicago), Dr.

Rice(Cleveland Clinic) and Dr. Dempsey(Temple) are all three excellent surgeons

for HM.

Hi Priti - I do not know him personally. I sent records to him, Dr. Rice and Dr.

Luketich and he was the only one who did not call me personally so I never even

got an opinion from him. Those who have seen him - comes to mind - were

impressed but I'm not aware of anyone who has had surgery with him.

Sorry I can't help more
