Guest guest
Hi Steve, Don't forget the liquid gravol for the nausea. Works every time! I'm back at the Gym running on the treadmill for an hour and doing planks and yoga. I do have to limit the weights as everything is wide open now and I don't want reflux. I just watch my sugar and fluid intake or I'm in trouble. Glad you are doing great, Thunder Bay, Ontario
Guest guest
Dear Steve, I lost my appetite immediately after my 'ectomy, I understand that this is quite normal. Just try to eat little and often and it will come back. It is now 9 months since mine, and last night we went out for a curry. I ate loads along with a larger and finished off with a whiskey as well - had no problems. I am still having the occasional issues with dumping, I think I eat to much sugar, causing the gurgles and then the dreaded diarrhea. I am not very disciplined in my eating habits unfortunately. The dietitian told me that dumping often only kicks in a few months after the operation, so watch out for it. Here is a good link that explains things.... http://www.corecharity.org.uk/Dumping-Syndrome.html I include it in the hope that you never have any need to read it! I currently sleep on a wedge but have had no real reflux issues, just wish I had a little more stamina, but recovering from an 'ectomy is a long haul and we are over the worst aren't we? regards tim

Guest guest
Dear Tim, It is wonderful to read that 9 months out you are eating so well. I am eating much better than I thought I would be at this point and the last few days have been much better. I am 5 weeks out. My exercise has been going very well. I can even hit my speed bag now and have done one pull-up! Yeah! The mix of weights, walking, rowing ergometer, Yoga is already doing wonders. Of course I am tired at the end of the day, but again, much better than I thought for 5 weeks. The article on dumping was interesting. I did have one episode last week (I had not eaten anything new at the time) and certainly do not want a repeat! My dietary habits have always been good and I am looking forward to adding foods back (especially many of the veggies I used to eat). Thanks so your support and advice, All the best, Steve > > Dear Steve, > > I lost my appetite immediately after my 'ectomy, I understand that this is quite normal. Guest guest
Hi Steve, I just recently celebrated my 3rd Anniversary on October 1st. I'm doing great, but like Tim, I sometimes overindulge and know the consequences. Too much fluid and sugar. Don't drink chocolate milk! LOL It's great to feel healthy and strong again:-) Day by day, . achalasia From: samsteve1@... Date: Thu, 25 Nov 2010 23:27:03 +0000 Subject: Re: Dr. Steve Ectomy Follow-up Thanks .
