Good to hear of your success I hope you keep on feeling better and better each

day. I am over a year since my ectomy and doing similarly. I also have mild

iron deficiency anaemia and have been referred to someone so they can look into

it. Though I have no symptoms and feel great apart from the odd dumping

episode.

Good isn' it?

regards

tim

Hi Jeff

Good to hear that everything is going well for you. Dumping is to be expected

after the ectomy, i still get it after 7 years! Glad to hear that you can eat

pretty much what you want. Keep in touch.

It will be six months this week since my esophagectomy. It is amazing how fast

time goes by and how the body can heal itself over time. Aside from mild Iron

deficiency anemia and some issues with late dumping syndrome I am starting to

feel like I did many years ago before achalasia had effected my life so greatly.

For the first time in years I am really able to focus on getting my career back

on track and living a normal life. I haven't had any NCCPs since the surgery,

which has been wonderful, and aside from foods that cause dumping syndrome I can

pretty much eat anything I want without issue. I may have had bread stuck a few

times but nothing a little sip of water couldn't wash right down. Energy levels

are still low some days but I think if I can get my iron levels up a little that

may improve more as well. Looking back six months ago there is no way I could

see how much my life would have improved from the surgery. It seemed like such a

long road to

recovery at the time so I am very thankful how I have progressed. Hoping for

continued improvement over the next few months. Best to everyone.

Regards,

Jeff from Arizona

Jeff,

When my doc started talking about esophagectomy immediately after my first

myotomy he scared the hell out of me.I still think that he shouldn't have scared

me with such drastic measures as he did.Later he apologized but said that

someday and that could be down the road ten tears depending on how things go

that I would have to consider an esophagectomy. If I do, my research in Doctors

so far points me to Dr. Luketich at UPMC Presby. My Doc that I have now

works out of UPMS Shadyside and he won't be thrilled with my decision, but I

just feel Dr. Luketich will be able to meet my needs.I thank you for your

reassuring story which will make my decision easier when my time comes.

hey Jeff - good to hear from you. I'm at almost 3 1/2 years and wanted to let

you know - you're going to feel even better in another 6 months or so. Even

recently - say the last 6 months - I've put on another few pounds - my weight

was OK but a little on the light/skinny side - now I'm going to have to start

watching my intake again (in a good way)

I also had some mild anemia and had a ton of bloodwork but ultimately, I take a

chewable multi-vite with iron everyday and now my iron is up to the low/normal

range - I am a proponent of vitamins anyway but I think especially after an

ectomy - it's really vital - I think there's always going to be some minor

absorbtion issues for us.

Glad to hear you're doing so well - I wish you continued forward progress.

No more spasms - that's the best - isn't it??
