My understanding is that Dr. Dempsey at Temple is an excellent surgeon and he

works with Dr. Richter. This group is very experienced with patients with

Achalasia.

Thank you for your response. Dr. Richter is expert in his field, I was advised

to meet Dr. Fisher.

My surgeon, Dr. Blair Marshall, is the head of Thoracic Surgery at

town. She is excellent, and does laparoscopic surgery on teens. In

fact, she referred me to a 16 year old patient with achalasia as a reference

to talk to when I was considering having the surgery.

Good luck,

Terry

Hmm, I had put some east coast names out there a while back, for the kids..

I would have to do a message search to find the others...

Please do not discount an open procedure for a kid.  Do not shop it like you

were trying to get the best deal on a car.   slow down and consider

Richter.. he is very good.

see the Dr. below she was recommend by Dr. Richter for teens.

hey Raj - Dr. Richter is an excellent GI and I would certainly go see who he

recommends but you can also see Dr. Rice in Cleveland or Dr. Luketich in

Pittsburgh. Dr. L was my surgeon and he is cardiothoracic but the hospital there

is physically connected to a childrens hospital so I would feel confident that

he would be able to get a pediatric surgeon to work with him.

saw Dr. Dempsey and although he did not have surgery with him, he was

very impressed with him.

You are fortunate - you seem to have many good options within just a few hours

travel time.

Glad you found us!
