Guest guest
I think we need to be clear that carbonation does NOT work for EVERYONE. It just goes to show that Achalasia is different in each of us. I think its fair to suggest trying it, but that may wind up causing some of us to regurgitate. I think we need to refrain from absolutes here on this board or " prescriptions " . Notan makes a good point. We are not doctors and what may work for some does not work for others and we should never RULE something out comepletely because we don't really know the effects it may have for someone else. We can guide, give anecdotal evidence and advice but in the end its all " grey " . Nothing is really black and white. For me, carbonation DID NOT WORK pre myotomy. It inflated my esophagus and put pressure on my trachea and I wound up with stridor and needed to regurgitate. BAD BAD THING. Now i am post myotomy and everything is going down, so a sip of carbonation is OK from time to time. I still stay away for the main reason that I think soda is complete garbage (nutritionally speaking). Diet soda even worse. Anyway, I digress. the point is that we really need to be cognizant of the FACT that one solution does not fit all in this group! C
