,

I really appreciate hearing your message.  Having been fearful of my A's power

over my life for the last 20 years, you have given me some confidence about the

future.

is an ectomy severe - yes! is it a very reasonable option for someone your age -

yes! I had A from the age of 12 and had an ectomy 3 1/2 years ago at age 39 and

my life is so much better than before I want to do a happy dance everytime I

think about it!! I have had NO SPASMS!! I can eat a much greater variety of

things - still a few that don't work so well but let's see - this morning I had

a banana, 1/2 a peanut butter sandwich on 12 grain bread (I'll eat the other 1/2

in about an hour) and I'm having a cup of coffee. For lunch today I'm having

some leftover grilled sausage with peppers and cheese and some sauteed squash

and tonight I'm hanging with some friends at a beach house, we're going to have

some shrimp, cheese and crackers, raw veggies and appetizer stuff for dinner and

SEVERAL glasses of wine!! Life is good.

the first 6 months or so kind of suck - but as your body adjusts to your new

normal - it gets better and better.

Check past posts from Isabella, in WV, and from NY - all in

their 30's when they had their ectomies and all doing great - there's a whole

herd more and some of them should chime in too.

The best thing is that we are here for you and can help you get through it all.

We're here to help and we 'get it'

Keep us posted and ask away!! I'm on the other coast but you can also feel free

to call me anytime - 252-256-3843 - just leave a message because I don't answer

calls I don't recognize.

I can attest to the fact (having met in person) that once you meet

your fear of an 'ectomy is decreased significantly. She is so energetic

and lively and positive. I feel like, if she can get through it, then I can as

well. Especially since we share the same surgeon!

So if I have to cross that bridge (and I say IF - for ;) then I can be a

little more relaxed about the outcome since I have had face to face proof of a

great quiality of life post 'ectomy.

You can also give me a call or ask away. It will be 4 years December 6th for me.

My life has been amazing since having the ectomy. I'm also on the east, but feel

free to call. 606-776-0007

Thank you guys so much! I already feel better. I might even take a few of your

offers to call up if I have any more questions. One question that comes to mind

now would be do you know of any surgeons on the west coast that specialize in

ectomys for A?

Hi Stefani,

I'm sorry that you are having so many problems.  I understand how difficult

this

must be.  I think you are seeing good doctors and would only add that if you

want to consult with anyone else please try Dr. Maish at UCLA, she does

many ectomy's, and is brilliant and has a real passion about Achalasia.  Highly

trained in her field, head of the whole department.  I had a great/perfect

experience before, during and after the surgery, was top rate experience.

Best regards, Julee SoCal
