Guest guest
You may want to try Malox Max. That's what I found to be the most helpful for me. I still take it occasionally if I eat something I shouldn't late at night. You may be able to take more if you are not taking a strong dose now. Some people do better on Nexium, but the cost is more. notan
Guest guest
Try Carafate slurry for the inflammation/ulcers in your E. Altho it won't help your acid problem it should reduce the damage it's doing. It is a wonderful thing for healing and has helped me tremendously!! The lower 1/3 of my E had severe ulceration/inflammation from food, drugs, etc. not going down and (after two dilations so stuff goes down again) now, two months, later it's almost all healed. Dr. thinks one more month should do it. Sounds to me like your fundo is too loose, as you suspect. I had the myo/fundo 8.5 years ago and never had any problems w/AR altho I know many have. Do you elevate your head at night and make sure not to eat anything after dinner?
Guest guest
I take 20mg of Omeprazole, twice a day.I'm also taking 60mg's of dexilant once a day. > > ... they put me on omeprazole, ranitidine, and ondansetron to take care of it. > > How much omeprazole? Guest guest
I don't elevate my head at night and I try not to eat anything at least two hours before bed.I do drink a lot of Ginger Ale.Maybe 2 24 oz. bottles a day.I'm thinking now that since they did my dilation that my swallowing has gotten better but my heartburn has been more problematic.Perhaps it is a tad loose now. > > > Try Carafate slurry for the inflammation/ulcers in your E. Guest guest
. When was your dilatation again? Right after my myotomy I had reflux/heartburn. I took prescription pepcid AC, 2x a day and this helped me. However, over time (I am 4 months post op) my reflux diminished to the point where I don't even need the pepcid, maybe only once in a while. Maybe you just need to give your digestive system some time to regulate? Glad you are swallowing better, but I'm sorry you are in pain. I hope there is a med that does the trick for you in the short term and then I hope your symptoms lessen over time. Cara > > > > > > Try Carafate slurry for the inflammation/ulcers in your E. That combination is an aggressive amount of PPIs. A lot of us here are just taking 20 of Omeprazole alone once a day. In fact I don't even take that every day. Others take 20 twice a day and some have taken more. But taking another PPI with it maybe you are already maxed. Are you taking the ranitidine at the same time? If so, other than adding an antacid (Tums, Maalox, that kind of thing) it sounds like you have it pretty much covered. notan
Guest guest
My husband takes 40 mg of the Protonix --well, the generic form. He started with Nexium, but then our insurance stopped paying for that. Then he switched to Ranitidine, which worked well for about a year but then suddenly he started getting really nauseous when he took it, so now for the past year he's been taking Protonix. He can't get through the day without it. > > I had my Heller Myo and Dor Fundo inLate July of 2010.Heartburn was never a major issue for me but now it is tearing me up.I thought maybe the acetaminophen in my pain meds was causing it, but I started taking a different kind without that in it and I still have bed heartburn. It wakes me up in the middle of the night. This morning I got up and threw up this vile looking green stuff. My Esophagus is in bad shape as it is and I don't need this speeding up it's deterioration.I used to take protonix but they put me on omeprazole, ranitidine, and ondansetron to take care of it.Evidently the old medicine worked better or the Dor Fundo is allowing way too much reflux out of my stomach.Any suggestions? > >
Guest guest
Cara, My dilation was sometime in mid september I think.I am wondering if my diet has a lot to do with the heartburn also. After the surgery I stayed on theUPMC soft diet as directed but after that I started eating what I wanted to start trying to put the pounds back on.It's not that I eat spicy foods it's just that they aren't the fruits, veggies and healthy things I should be eating.I need to get my act together there.I am going to see my primary care doctor aout the heartburn, but explain to him about my poor diet also. > > > > > > > > > Try Carafate slurry for the inflammation/ulcers in your E. Guest guest
Milwaukee mommy, Maybe the Ranitidine is what's making me nauseous also.I thought it was probably caused by food laying in my esophagus and souring in there, but I'm not positive.Ranitidine does help my stomach pain though.I liked the pantoprazole ( Protonix ) better than the Ranitidine.I used to hit some nice night clubs in Milwaukee back in the 70's. It was a pretty cool place. > > > > >
