Guest guest
the inevitable occurs, and NO dilitation, heller myotomy, Ca+ Channel blockers, botox or other traditional therapies produce any discernible positive change? What then? I pose this, because unlike the 90% of you, some us are refractory to repeated ripping ,tearing, manipulating, cutting and wrapping. And in the course of treatments, the conditions gets worse. 1.) Not being able to get food down w/o pain, having a FU-ed neurological degeneration/nerve damage that produced god-knows-what havoc on the body. And ever-present pain that outlasts 3 months, and is a day-to-day struggle. Obviously I know most of you won't fall into my category with a 32 Hx of severe symptoms and inexorably relentless and repetitive failed treatments that serve no purpose than to stroke a doctor's ego that these traditional treatments MUST work for all patients. And, if pain management is pursued with positive results, you, the patient, get treated as some medical degenerate, who is assumed (by the uninformed) to use these legally prescribed medications as if they are illicit recreational drugs--when the fact remains little euphoria is gained. You are able to get food down more easily, function w/o pain episodes interfering in your life and can avoid " radical " esophagectomy the surgeons have a natural inclination to push. Speaking from the " 0.9 to the Nth power " of failed treatments where N is the # of traditional treatments that not only failed to offer any relief, but created OTHER problems in the process. Guest guest
Hi Steve I went back on your posts to about 2002 ,I believe. Seems like you dont like doctors. I have also stayed away from my three stupid GI's last 3 years.I do go to my GP for blood test. At one time was thinking going to USC, but never went. I had a heart bypass 14 years ago, they nearly killed me, so very careful now. My Achalasia started when I was 75 as GERD in the middle of the night, now 80 and doing great.I had a manometry 3 years ago at UCI, and Achalasia confirmed. I have not had any operation or dilations. Yes I still have problems, but found out what I can eat, includes COKE, coffee, Magnesium and real BUTTER. I empty the E before going to bed with Ensure and a BOTTLE of water, which I chug down, putting my head back. Steve I really do not understand your posts, seems complicated and negative. It would be hard to go over your hundreds of post over 10 years. Maybe you should make a simple summary of your last 10 years. I guess you must be an Engineer, like me, referring to the Nth power. My comments. Ray CA OC Mission Viejo 80 old as dirt! I posted photos a few years back.Have now gaind a bit of weight. > > the inevitable occurs, and NO dilitation, heller myotomy, Ca+ Channel blockers, botox or other traditional therapies produce any discernible positive change? > > What then? > > I pose this, because unlike the 90% of you, some us are refractory to repeated ripping ,tearing, manipulating, cutting and wrapping.
