Guest guest
Hello again I was finally diagnosed with achalasia in late Dec after 4 & 1/2 years of tests & many doctors. I posted that a new GI performed a Maloney Bougie dilation on Dec 29th so I can now get soft foods down. Since then I've had barium swallow & barium enema tests. Both show that my intestines & colon are horribly twisted, reversed, tangled like spaghetti, called malrotation of intestions. Apparently this condition is life-long, since birth. Next test will be the pill with camera in it which I'll swallow. I've been aware for years that something was wrong in my midriff & abdomen...now I know why. Even pureed food took hours to work its way thru the tangled intestines. I'll need another esophageal dilation soon. Also I have the feeling of a lump in my throat, making it hard to breathe. Not sure if that's from achalasia or perhaps a nodule in my thyroid. The nodule can't be felt by the doctor. Also, some days I cough so hard, my throat hurts. I'm back on all liquid food again because soft or purees take too long to go thru the maze of intestines. I wonder which of these issues is the most urgent. Any opinions ? I'm 67 years old, almost starving but hanging on. Thanks for any advice. Susie
