Guest guest
Hello my fellow achalasians. : ) I had my surgery to rectify the sypmtoms of achalasia back in 2003. Since then I have had 3 children, and have not been seen on this message board for some time. I thought I'd just post an update of how I'm finding life after the surgery. Firstly for those who don't know my background. I live in New Zealand and finding a surgeon who has done MANY of these surgeries is impossible. I was my surgeons 3rd ever attempt. He is a well recognised thoracic surgeon, and he did a fine job. So don't beat yourself up too much if your surgeon hasn't done 100 of them before you. It made me very nervous reading the posts on here leading up to my surgery. Since surgery, I have managed to live a fairly normal life. I have the odd spasm which causes discomfort and have been using a series of different drugs to help with that. I have difficulty sleeping flat or on my tummy. I have managed to work out a way for me to sleep most of the time. I have had 3 uncomplicated births and have carried all my babies to term with no exasperated symptoms. I am more than happy to be approached by anyone who would like to ask me questions about my pathway to this point of my achalasia journey. Cheers from NZ Kim
