Lenny,

I'm mentioned indirectly in the comment about the California bill passing

" after Iowa. " Or maybe I should say there was a group behind the Iowa bill

I'm in northeast Atlanta in Dacula. I hooked up with the dummies in Oct 03 when I was diagnosed and would be a total basket case if not for their friendship and support. I'm sorry you have such a rough time, but glad things are better now and you're here with us.

Heyyy Dee, thank you for the warm welcome. (extending hand in a warm handshake) I'm pleased to meet ya. I don't believe we have met. If I recall, Deb and Liz opened up "dummies" in June 2002. I had met them in another group. In the beginning I helped Liz and Deb post information then hung around a bit then matters out of my control came up and then I had to vamanos.

I see that my hero Gail Deveraux is here still along with PattyCakes and a few others who had begun signing up as new members when I left. Inititally, there was jest me with Deb and Liz.

I became very ill with the medication I took for the valley fever and it aggravated the already existing hcv. The medicine was not liver friendly. I did that for 9 mos before I asked my main dr to puhleeeeeese get me off of that junk. He dc'd it without conferring with the one who had me believing that I could only get better with this yucko stuff. My pcr quantitative was > 17.4 mil. As soon as I detoxed from the diflucan, I began tx. Whew, between the two treatments it had been on one hellacious nightmare! Liz and PattyCakes stayed in touch as well as we could.

Where in Georgia are you located?

I got rid of my gall bladder some time between the 1st & 2nd kidney stone attacks, or was it the 2nd & 3rd? Anyway, it's been gone a few years & I can't tell a difference. I wasn't having pain yet, but had a big stone.

De, me tinks I knows where dat is...

I hear ya on being a basket case, at times. It's gets kinda hairy, don't it?

For me, it wasn't about dying, it was how will I live that got to me. I'd actually asked my Creator to take me several times when I had 3 gall bladder attacks in 6 days. Whew, dat was ugly....my poor cat was never very far from me through it and was zombied as badly as I was.

We got through it though. I see the surgeon this Monday although I'm not at all thrilled about the idea. I may even back out if I can figger out another way about this.

It may be a continuing saga...won't decide until I chat with the surgeon tomorrow once I feel comfortable in knowing what I'm looking at the sonogram and have a meeting of the minds with the man who makes money cutting out gall bladders.

I like my gall bladder.

Take care,

Dunno. Hopefully someone here can help you. We had a TOPS leader on here

for a while. Do an internet search on Take Off Pounds Sensibly.

I am sure someone has already responded to you, , but you can go to www.tops.org and you should be able to find a meeting that way....

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a WONDERFUL support group and they are not affiliated with any particular weight loss program.....more like a ww meeting, support, encouragement, ideas, tips etc....I would HIGHLY suggest you going to one ÜÜ

I love your story. has been a handful and I am often uncertain what he

is going to do in public but I must say that we have met some wonderful

people. Some jerks too, but I expect them, it is the wonderful that sticks out

to

me.

He nods and then sees the baby and his face kind of lit up. He said to me

" Can I look at your baby? I hear she has the Down Syndrome. " He looks at

her for a nano second and then says " she's right cute. My cousin, her girl has

the Down Syndrome too. Nice kid. I often

wished that (his daughter-my friend) had it too. They don't say

much, eat whatever you put in front of 'em, and they don't think they know

every

God damned thing. " With that he stomped out of the room to his bedroom.

Well needless to say there was an akward silence left in his wake. My friend

who is never at a loss for words was silent and red faced. I busted out

laughing. My girlfriend was mortified by her father's behavior and thought I

would be offended. I wasn't though because I realized that he had seen the

value

of his cousin's child with no help from anyone. He saw an agreeable

individual who was easy to live with and that was more then he got from the

rest of

his family (though doubtless he got exactly as he deserved.) I jut couldn't

help but laugh over the final dig he got at his daughter who was really a bit

of a know-it-all. So as Amelia goes through life there will be times when

people's reactions to her will make me happy and times when they

won't.

Ann, I like what you say about, "That won't get me to a size 12." I think maybe I need to change my thinking. I need to set a goal to get too, and then work on getting to that goal. I haven't really set a final goal up in my head. I have a mini goal of 275. I need to start thinking about that goal and working towards it. Then set my next goal. I guess I need to try and put time limits on things? I just never have done the time limit thing. Does that work? Do you know? I might try that, but don't know how to set them. from MO.

*lol* Very human. :-) Yeah, I'm pretty much back on track. Still

getting used to doing the points thing vs. the calorie thing, but it's

not too big a deal. Easier to add up points, that's for sure! :)

So have you tried any more recipes from her books? Oh! Dh asked if,

when you doubled the recipe, you put it in a rectangular pan? We have

an oddly shaped pan that we put it in when we doubled that recipe and

it was very thinly spread (both the meat and the 'top'). Maybe that

made a difference? It's been bugging me because our experiences with

that recipe were so opposite. I'm a little afraid that it was a fluke

that ours turned out and it'll be funky next time...

So are you excited to be going back to work? Nervous? How are you

handling it? Best of luck going back Monday!

Oh! Kohl's has some amazing sales right now--every section at our

store had summer clearance racks with an additional 33% off the lowest

price. Made most stuff 60-70% off! They had some beautiful tops and

skirts. I love broomstick skirts because they fit through such a wide

range of sizes. Just thought I'd pass that along since you'll be

needing more clothes here soon!

Thanks. As for your doc -- remember, I had to see 8 of them before I got

someone to agree, even though there are a lot of people on the TJR group in

their early adulthood who've have TKRs.

Ann

Ann

Ann thanks for all the info! I'm going to go on the sites and

investigate all the choices before I even consider a TKR. Of course

the

docs have to agree on it any way. He is reluctant to even consider it

at this point. It's funny how the doctors can just say wait 15-20

years till your old enough. In the mean time just sit around and put

your life on hold!

Good luck to you on your upcoming surgery. I hope you have an easy

time of it and a fast recovery. Sounds like you have built your

muscles up for the surgery. Smart thing to do. I need to push myself

more than I do with the walking no matter what. Thanks again. JoAnn

Ann,

Sounds like you live in the boonies!

Actually I don't live in the boonies. True, I don't live in the middle of

town, but I do live in a development, with lots of in-sight neighbors. We're

about a mile from the bus stop (which is in the middle of nowhere, literally),

but that's only because the city hasn't realized that with the amt of

development they've allowed up here come not only the lovely property taxes they

lust after but a responsibility to provide infrastructure, like the damn buses!

Or Dial-a-Lift. I really hate the city fathers here. They woke up one morning

this summer with the realization that they hadn't planned for providing WATER

for all these subdivisions. Ptah!!

I moved to Florida from Rhode

Island. There we lived out in the woods. My mailbox was at the end of

my road almost a mile from my house. Neither the school bus or the

mail would come down the dirt road which was 9/10 of a mile. The

address's there went by the telephone pole number. I was pole 37.

Now that's boonies! My son and I lived so far in the boonies once for 2 years

that we had no electricity, sewer, or water. We had a well and a generator and

a propane tank. I got a propane refrigerator & hot water heater & put propane

lights in a couple of places on the walls. We also used a kerosene lamp. We're

just lucky we didn't burn to death. No school bus -- I drove him about 25 miles

to school. There was one closer, but also no bus, and it was like one of those

places you send your deliquent teenager. They were so awful to the kids and my

kid was so nice, I'd rather take him all the way in to town.

You would almost have to pack a lunch for the kids on shopping day.

If I were you I would take my friend on the offer for a week help out

and then beg for just one more week! You could use the hand.

Hopefully meals on wheels will be a good help. Down here they deliver

and milk is in the meals. I have heard that you could freeze milk as

well. JoAnn

Thanks.

Hello Ann. I have lost weight with the Life Lift

program and inches as well. My success was quite a

while ago as I stopped doing my breaths. Since I have

started up again I am not watching for that as much as

going for better health with a program I can do for

life.

This group is really terrific at being supportive.

One of my two reasons for getting back on line is just

for this group.

Hey Ann

I hope you are having a wonderful day! Yeah, I really enjoy Rehab especially

with the elder population...it is indeed a unique challenge and a lot of fun!

As far as SSI Dis., I am working with a company called

Allsup, inc. My initial phone qualification interview went very well....the

Rep. Stated that I have a " Perfect " case with my mix of doctors, meds and

diseases.....imagine that....I never thought of including " perfect " and my

diseases in the same sentence!

Anyway, she further stated that

I should " qualify " within 6 weeks or so.....thankfully, I just received my first

short-term disability check from my Rehab Company.....they offered us both

short and long term disability at no charge to us....

Sooooooooo, I will wait and see.

That is what we all seem to do best with this blasted disease!

Thank you for answering my question.....have a wonderful

Day!

Many Blessings!

Ann-

I wanted to say " HI " and hope you are feeling better more and more everyday. I

too, am 32. No wait I just turned 33. WOW how time goes by. But I wanted to just

comment on something you said and that was that you were enjoying your time with

your kids and that you are looking for the good in everyday. That is exactly

what I have said from the first day I got diagnosed. I (almost) feel honored to

have this awful disease, it has given me something that I wouldn't of had

otherwise and that is being so grateful for my family and friends. And also it

has forced me to slow down and smell the flowers. I have spent so much one on

one time with my son when I have been bed ridden and even though I was in

terrible, miserable pain they were some of the best moments of my life. (you

parents out there know what I mean). Like you said I would rather have this

disease then any of my kids, or for any of my loved ones for that matter. I

wouldn't wish this disease on my

worst enemy. (seriously)

I hope that everyone is having a painfree (or less pain then yesterday) day.

Love and Support,

Keri in CA

Hey friends!

I am looking for the good in each day enjoying my kids more. Laughing

more and realizing how life can change so fast but it's not over and

Im going to keep pushing on even if I have to use a cain and laugh at

myself that Im only 32 and using one.

I just keep saying it could be worse and Im glad its me and not any

one of my kids. That would be hell! I can push on and endure it's got

to be harder to see you kid have something like this.

Sunshine to you all and have a happy day!

Thanks again for your emails and love
