Guest guest
----- Original Message ----- From: " Sue in NJ " <susang@...> > >This is vacation week for us > > Have a great time. Hopefully the heat will break, your AC will be fixed, and > you'll stay close to plan. Thanks. The heat wave did break so we're back down to 97 which is a big improvement over 104. Everything is relative. We had fun with the kids at the pool this afternoon. I got my exercise throwing my 6 year old in the air. That is definately strength training. Tomorrow I'll take the girls to playgroup at a member's home with a pool while tries to fix the A/C. No reason for us to be hanging around the house while he works. My plan this week is to just enjoy vacation and not worry about food. I have 6 pounds of ground beef in the fridge that I bought at Sam's. Argh. I think I'll just cook that in the morning and freeze it in several bags for easy use. I was going to divvy it up raw but I've been avoiding my kitchen for the last few days due to the heat. picked up a pizza tonight and we had another picnic in the bedroom. That pizza tasted so good to me. I ate 3.5 pieces and I could have eaten about 3 more. Argh. It is going to be so tough starting over and getting my appetite under control. Hopefully the sugar avoidance will help with that. Ann

Guest guest
----- Original Message ----- From: " Sue in NJ " <susang@...> > Were you able to avoid the tropical storm, or did it hit your area? It only rained for a little while. I don't know what happened to . I didn't watch the news much this week since we were running around on vacation. We watched the news about the black out after we got a message from my FIL about it. He rarely calls so it always scares me when he does. My in-laws live near Wash DC and they were reporting on the cousins in NYC. I gave both kids a ride in the trailer this morning before church and I gave Vonn a ride after church while Lynn rode her bike. Argh. I put the smaller training wheels on Lynn's bike and she whined constantly. I told her I'll put the regular training wheels back on and I'm not going to take them off until she tells me to. She's almost 7 but she just isn't ready. I'm worried that she'll be teased but she just tells people that everyone learns at their own pace which is true. My bike and trailer were great but the enjoyment was gone due to Lynn's whining. She gets frustrated easily. Tomorrow I'll tow Vonn when we take Lynn to school then I'll take Vonn for a ride around the neighborhood. We'll have time between taking Lynn to school and heading to playgroup. Playgroup will be at a mall with a big play area and carousel. I'll have to scout around for something on plan to eat since we'll have lunch there. I bought tons of food at Sam's and the grocery store today so I'm all stocked up. I'll start Phase I of South Beach tomorrow which means no bread, pasta, rice or fruit. I stocked up on chicken, steak, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, spinach, salad and mushrooms. Sounds pretty healthy to me. > You may want to hold off another year or so, just to be safe. You know what > happens as soon as you give away all the baby clothes and furniture, don't > you? Argh. I don't want any more kids!!!!! had a vasectomy 3 years ago so hopefully we're safe. I would be devastated if I got pregnant. The crib is outta here! Vonn potty trained in May and she just changed over to panties at night too so we're diaper free! I love my big girls! > > >I need sleep for my new endeavor on Monday! > > Good luck to all of you tomorrow - the girls and their new teachers, you and > your new lifestyle/eating plan. Is all the sugary junk out of the house, or > at least well hid? All the week's foods planned and shopped for? Will it be > the South Beach or Sugar Busters plan? Thanks. We don't have much sugary junk in the house. My problem is more fast food when I'm in the car by myself. I finished my Frosted Mini Wheats yesterday and I'll probably finish off some apple raisin bread that we got at the monastery tonight. I bought the food but I need to write down the menu so I make sure to use up the most perishable stuff first. I don't want one bite of all those healthy veggies to go to waste. It will be more work cooking and buying food more often but it will be worth it healthwise. I can't wait for weigh in a week from tomorrow. Weigh in tomorrow will be grim I'm afraid. Henry never learned to ride without training wheels, and after a while just told us to get rid of the bike when his friends, all riding without them, kept making fun of him. His best friend offered to help him learn, but he refused. He never learned to skate, either, once he came off the plastic Fisher Price ones. I call him a sissy boy and he tosses his GPA at me, so we're even. > rice or fruit. I stocked up on chicken, steak, broccoli, cauliflower, green > beans, spinach, salad and mushrooms. Sounds pretty healthy to me. Congrats on being stocked and ready. Now just pray *you* don't get a power failure! LOL > I bought the food but I need to write down the > menu so I make sure to use up the most perishable stuff first. I don't want > one bite of all those healthy veggies to go to waste. Like I don't want any of the meat in the freezer to go to waste due to freezer burn from sitting there so long. My revised menu is all made, with Ed getting the bulk of the meat meals, cooked leftovers probably headed back to the freezer, and the majority of my dinners will be vegetarian. I'm also avoiding all dairy this week - my arthritis pains are just so bad the past few days! > I can't wait for weigh in a week from tomorrow. Weigh in tomorrow will > be grim I'm afraid. At least you'll have a starting point. It may be too late by the time you get to read this, but you *could* skip the weigh-in and just go by your measurements. I am doing okay but struggling with the huge hernia. I have seen my PCP (yesterday) without real positive results, but hopefully enough to send a report to Dr. K. I send photos to na already, and she said the hernia was very evident, but we need more documentation for the pannulectomy. I didn't find that out until after my PCP appointment, so I called and talked to his nurse to get him to add to his report some of my history of skin problems and the fact that the weight of the pannus with the spinal disease is counterproductive. I'll have to wait and see what he actually puts in his report (he seemed less than enthusiastic, despite the fact that I blow up like a balloon (without excessive gas). I guess I'm just full of sh*t! I am having awful noises that can be heard across the room, too. na said that I should go down and see Dr. K, but I want to wait until my year checkup the first part of November (except he has no openings on the days I can go)! I have had nothing but rejections with my article. It reminds me of what Dr. K said during our interview -- that if reporters are looking for the appropriate surgery they could have found the GR-DS anytime, but they prefer just lumping them together as " gastric bypass. " So I am not getting much interest after the first nibble I had. I haven't given up, though, I am just seeking other markets -- I have had 5 rejections, so far. I hope you get your pink hair photos posted soon! I am looking forward to seeing you as your sassy self! I'm sorry you are having a sad day. I felt the sadness strongly this morning when I found out about ny Cash and Ritter. Plus my grandbaby and son came to visit but they could only stay a few hours and then they left this afternoon. It is sad having them in Barstow instead of close by. Thanks for your kind heart, Pat, I think you just sense when I need you to say a bright word to me and to send us those blessings! Guest guest
>That fact that > you keep plugging after all these years with no real reward from the scale > is amazing. I may not be losing that much weight following the regular McD plan, but avoiding that fat and dairy has certainly got to be better for me, physically. I know my sinuses and arthritis pains are better when I stay away from the cheese, but it's just oh so addictive (and delicious)! > You are here everyday encouraging us to do better and I > appreciate that. Low of 58 and high of 80 After complaining every time we have temps above 80 around here, I'm now sitting in this house in one of my long sleeve shirts with a sweat shirt on over it and I'm still shivering! Not a speck of sunshine here today. Maybe tomorrow. At least I got out in it and emjoyed it yesterday. >and it's supposed to be rainy on Sun. > for Lynn's party. It's rained on her birthday for the last 5 years. That's like Henry being sick for his birthday almost every year. Those darn Fall allergies just seem to hit him hard until the first really frosty day. I'm surprised he hasn't been sick yet *this* season - usually by the third week of September he's on all his meds full force. He had one week of the sniffles in early September and has been fine since. I'm scared - this may be the calm before the storm. > Sheesh. At least our living room is big enough to do the pinata inside. > The broom and snitch relay is going to be a problem though. Hmmmmm.... I'm sure the kids will find a way of climbing all over the furniture and up and down stairs to do them. Just keep an ice pack handy for when they start bumping into furniture. Guest guest
Yep that was me. The series was in April of this year. Seems so ironic that there is as much WLS reporting in a city that has such wonderful food, and also the reputation of being one of the fattest cities in the country! I had the DS because the food here is so wonderful, and I like wonderful food. Wonder what they can eat now? Betsy Ann I read the series he referred to. This reporter had a RGB and interviewed many pts, and only one DS patient. Betsy, was it you? I read it several weeks ago, maybe a couple months ago. As far as I recall she did not interview any medical persons who perform the DS. Marta
