My mom is from Georgia. She's the keeper of the black eyed pea tradition.

I live in Houston. I don't recall if my Texas Grandmother did the black

eyed pea thing. My Irish buddy eats cabbage for money.

Dear Ann,

thank you too for just thinking of me and my family last week. All these

notes just helped to ease the pain some. Thank you for thinking of us and

for taking the time to write. She was an incredible lady and she was loved

by many. Be well friend.

,

I hope coming back on line means that you are a bit better.

I live in Port Jefferson (that's in Suffolk county).

Where are you?

We will know more about her surgery soon, as we will be going to see her in

San Diego in a few weeks.

Hi, Ann,

I am doing much better, thanks for asking. I live in Edison on the Highland

Park border. We moved here from maryland 2 years ago (though I grew up in

Toms River, NJ). Luckily, it is a wonderful community.

Is Suffolk County above Westchester? My geography isn't great!

I hope you are having a good day,

I'm in Middlesex County near Somerset, Old Bridge, Metuchen...don't know if

this helps at all! About 45 minutes from the city. y, after living

here for 2 years, I'm still trying to figure out where we live!

No Suffolk County is the Eastern end of Long Island (due east of the

boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn in NYC). Westchester is North of NYC

I'm trying to locate Edison in my mind and apparently my geography isn't any

better than yours. I used to do a lot of camping in the northern part of

NJ,l but don't think that is where you are.

Hi Marta!

I am so sorry that you had a miserable day with the cramps from the hernia.

I find that I have to wear support panties all the time for my " lower hernia. "

There isn't much I can do about the upper one. They sometimes ache at

night, but don't cause me real *pain.*

I am so sorry that you have to wait for an entire year to accumulate enough

time to have it repaired. It seems like such a long time, and I know this

" alien baby " has been long past the nine month gestation period!

Take care of yourself!

Hi Melisa!

I am sorry I am so late in getting back to you. I need a phone number where

I can reach you, and I need two personal releases filled out. If you are

still interested, email me with your phone number and I will give you and call

to

interview you. I can email you the forms, and you can print them and send

them to me, or I can snail mail them to you, you can sign and return them, if

you

would prefer.

Thanks for your interest!

Hi Pat,

I had some more questions for Dr. K, so I emailed him. I know he is really

busy for the next couple of weeks, and I need that information to continue. We

had gotten interrupted during our interview. He assured me that he would

email me with the answers to my questions. He is also going to have some

updated

information from the ASBS conference that is happening this weekend or next.

Lots of new stuff. The interviews are going so well! I am going to have to

be careful with word counts (I think I will have WAY too much information for

even a feature article)! I am just thrilled with the way things are coming

together (and if I could have my patience RIGHT NOW, I'd be perfect)! LOL

I really enjoyed chatting with you, too. I have a few other calls to make,

still. Deanna gave me a fabulous interview just the day before her PS! We

have a group of VERY interesting people and the interviews could just go on and

on and on as far as I am concerned.

Another item of good news is that I met a woman named Anne at Dr. K's

office, and she wants us to collaborate on a book about the DS -- now how cool

is THAT?!!

I am going to be myth-busting very soon!

Of course, there is always the fact that we had just met and we were talking,

I don't know whether it will all come about, but it is a terrific idea, and I

hope to be part of it -- And I do like the title: Third Times the Charm!

Hi Tracey!

I am so glad Liz is fine -- whew! What a relief! I probably won't be able

to attend the August pool party either, unless some financial miracle happens.

LOL We are making it, we just don't have anything extra for trips (and it is

5 1/2-6 hours for me to go to Delano), so I either make a flying visit and

drive down and back between 11-12 hours, or I have to get a hotel for the night

(more expense). Anyway, as I get better, I am starting to look for a job. I

still have the dratted spinal disease, but I am trying to find SOMETHING to

add to our coffers. When that happens, you can be sure I will start attending

the occasional support meeting, and a pool party!

I'll miss all of you!

Hi Ann,

Believe me, I totally understand the money thing! The only reason I

can afford to go in August is because Liz, bless her heart, is

willing to drive. I only have to drive 45 minutes to her house in

North County San Diego and then we'll make the 4 1/2 hour drive in

her car from there. We may drive up and back the same day,

depending on whether we can talk Marta into maybe, possibly, pretty

please having the party on Saturday? Or maybe making it

Saturday/Sunday optional? Are you listening Marta? It's going to

be tough driving back home on Sunday night for us since we both will

have to work on Monday.

I'm so sorry you won't be able to make it but things WILL get

better! Andy and I are on a tight budget also, but things are very

slowly getting better. I'm sure they will for you, too!

Hugs!
