I had the manometry test done about 4 years ago and I was only 31 years old.

The woman who performed the procedure was shocked when she saw that I had

virtually no gag reflex. She said that usually someone younger in years had a

stronger gag reflex and when I first came in she thought I would have trouble

with it. Don't get me wrong, I didn't enjoy the procedure, but it did make the

test easier and quicker to get to my diagnosis of achalasia. I had the

peristalsis with the strong LES pressure and also spasms (not at time of

manometry). But my question is does anyone else have a weak or non existent gag

reflex, and what does that mean? Is it unusual? Well, that was more like 3

questions.
